Job description

Position Description The Criminal Intelligence Analyst 1 - Counterterrorism position shall be directly accountable to the Administrative Services Manager of the section for the proper administration, general management and control of all matters related to the operation of the section and is generally governed by the same duties and responsibilities applicable to any other department employee. Performs advanced technical and professional work involved in recognizing, collecting, and analyzing intelligence and crime data to develop links between complex cases and patterns of crimes in the Investigative Support Division. *Candidate must receive and maintain a passing status from Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) background check.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is a 24/7/365 operation. Whether you are a sworn or civilian employee, you will be responsible for the general welfare of the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County. You will be responsible for ensuring optimum communications both within Metro and between Metro and the general public.

Typical Duties Analyze intelligence to detect patterns of criminal activity. Develop link charts, timelines and network analysis to illustrate criminal network structure and support trail preparation efforts.

Conduct investigative research and provide tactical analysis to identify individuals and crime/s connected to businesses and corporations. Devise methods of utilizing information submitted by investigators. Prepare both narrative and statistical reports and make presentations.

Conduct research and analysis of financial data to develop financial profiles and identify financial patterns of individuals and/or businesses. Analyze phone record data using Excel pivot tables and other communication analysis software. Devise new systems and make recommendations for implementation.

Act as liaison between the Department and other police and police related agencies, researching information on criminals and criminal activity. Collect, extract, analyze and interpret data from various sources and reduce to actionable intelligence. Collect and analyzes data manually or using a computer to develop links between complex cases and patters of crimes.

Identifies data to be collected and determines data collection methods. Determines appropriate presentation methods to disseminate data. May coordinate related activities in other areas of the department.

Details problems, provides supporting evidence, and recommends solutions. Prepares visual aids to support conclusions. Presents and defends findings to department management.

Attends meetings and workshops as needed. Prepare Event Threat Assessments, Situational Awareness Bulletins and Requests for Information for dissemination. Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Criminal Justice or a related field.
