Job description

Reliance is a construction services firm located in Indianapolis, Indiana, providing tailored commissioning, test and balance, construction quality assurance, and procurement solutions. Our team delivers exceptional client-specific services for new installations and facility evaluations.

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for generating new business opportunities, strengthening client retention, and supporting marketing initiatives. This role combines strategic sales, networking, and relationship-building with hands-on involvement in marketing campaigns, proposal development, and participation in industry events. This is a full-time, 1st shift position that reports to the President and is in Indianapolis, IN.

Primary responsibilities of the position include:

  • Collaborate with leadership to align business development and client retention goals with business objectives.
  • Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities in building commissioning and HVAC TAB services.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, including lead generation, qualification, proposal development, presentations, and contract negotiation.
  • Meet or exceed revenue growth targets through new client acquisition.
  • Work closely with the operations teams to ensure client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Expand existing client relationships by identifying new opportunities, cross-selling, and guiding sales from proposal to close.
  • Collaborate on digital marketing campaigns.
  • Oversee outbound lead generation activities and CRM/prospecting tools.
  • Contribute to marketing collateral including proposals, brochures, and website content.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, professional association events, and trade shows.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, consultants, and partners.
  • Travel as needed for client entertainment, site visits, and networking.
  • Stay current on industry trends, sales techniques, and customer relationship best practices.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • Track KPIs and report performance metrics to executive leadership
  • Other duties as assigned by Company Management. 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–10+ years of experience and proven experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably in construction, engineering, commissioning, or HVAC-related services.
  • Strong understanding of long sales cycles and relationship-based selling.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, LinkedIn, digital marketing tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
