Are you a strategic property tax professional ready to lead and optimize real estate tax operations? We're seeking an experiencedSenior Manager, Real Estate Tax,to take ownership of corporate property tax functions and drive meaningful results for this national real estate organization. This role does not have any direct reports. This role is in office Monday through Thursday with a base salary of $130,000 - $160,000 depending on experience with 20% bonus.
About the Role
As the Senior Manager, Real Estate Tax, you'll be the driving force behind property tax strategy-from analyzing assessments and managing appeals to budgeting and coordinating with cross-functional teams. This is a high-impact role where your expertise will directly influence bottom line and operational efficiency.
What You'll Do
Strategic Analysis & Decision-Making
  • Evaluate property tax assessments and determine appeal viability using cost, income, and sales comparison approaches
  • Conduct comprehensive case reviews by analyzing sales data, assessment notices, rent rolls, income/expense reports, and market trends
  • Make critical decisions on pursuing appeals and subsequent options
Leadership & Representation
  • Lead the entire appeal process from initial assessment through resolution
  • Represent cases before administrative appeals boards and participate in settlement negotiations
  • Interview, evaluate, and negotiate with external consultants and attorneys
Financial Planning & Collaboration
  • Own real estate tax projection and budgeting cycles
  • Partner with Asset Management, Finance, Legal, Property Management, and Accounting teams to explain budgets, valuations, and appeal strategies
  • Provide clear, detailed explanations of complex property tax matters to stakeholders
Operations & Systems
  • Maintain and update property tax databases and information systems
  • Conduct research, analyze evidence, and develop strategic recommendations for complex tax matters
  • Ensure accurate tax bill processing and documentation
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial property assessment and/or valuation
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Real Estate, or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of property taxation principles and valuation techniques
  • Strong understanding of property tax and real estate terminology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
