Job description

OVERVIEW:

The Burch Oil Company is a regional leader in the distribution of petroleum products and propane. The Company markets its products through Burch Oil, Burch Oil of Charles County and Burch Propane. The Company sells and distributes these products to residential and commercial customers throughout southern Maryland and parts of Virginia.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

With a commitment to safety, this position installs, maintains and services all customer installations and equipment while providing excellent customer service.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Set, repair and maintain tanks and cylinders; install first stage line; conduct system tests; and prepare installations for inspections

Complete field repairs of tank valves, lines and seals; troubleshoot for leaks; and make appropriate repairs

Upon arrival at customer's site, document all installed equipment by securing make, model, serial number, type of fuel, obtain tank inventory reading and take pictures as necessary

Operates assigned vehicle safely

Keeps assigned vehicle clean, neat and properly stocked with parts, tools and safety equipment at all times

Troubleshoot and service propane appliances such as stoves, water heaters, fireplace, furnaces, boilers, room/wall heaters, etc.

Work with Administrative Assistant to ensure daily schedule is maintained and changes are properly communicated to customer

Complete and submit monthly inventory of assigned vehicle

Complete pre-trip and post trip inspections on vehicle before each use Maintain vehicle service schedule

Keep all licenses, endorsements, DOT certifications, etc. current Keep all CETP certifications current

Ensure all Company and Governmental safety, policy and regulatory standards are met and maintain zero preventable incidents.

Perform all duties in a safe manner

Complete other tasks as requested

Maintain a well-groomed and neat appearance while in a clean approved uniform

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Valid Maryland driver's license
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background and drug test
  • Able to lift over 50 pounds; push, pull carry and maneuver heavier items (with additional manpower or approved device); carry ladders; work from heights; and work in small crawl spaces
  • Able to obtain State and local licenses as required
  • Three to five years of work experience in propane installations, maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting diverse service issues
  • Proficient with handheld electronic devices like iPhones
