Job description

PROPANE SERVICE INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN
Do you enjoy getting hands-on with high-tech equipment while providing exceptional customer service? If so, a career as a Propane Service Technician is right for you! Not only will this position allow you to work with a wide variety of equipment & people, but this position also installs new tanks & performs inspections.
Frontier Cooperative has 2 new opportunities available for Propane Service Technicians to work in designated territories in central & southeastern Nebraska areas. With over 60 locations in Central & Southeastern Nebraska, FC strives to have the employees work from a location that is closest to where they reside. Both positions are full-time with full benefits (see benefit info below).
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • As a member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, & maintaining propane equipment for our customers.
  • Perform service work in an efficient safe manner in accordance with all state & federal regulations.
  • Conduct on-site inspections (residential & commercial locations such as churches, schools, post offices, etc.) to ensure tanks & systems are compliant & meet regulation standards.
  • Replace or repair defective & outdated parts on propane tanks
  • Examine Regulators & perform Pressure & Leak Tests
  • Assist with route deliveries, when needed: load, secure, transport, deliver & unload propane to & from specified destinations in a safe, economical & efficient manner.
  • Assist with delivering Refined Fuels, Oil & DEF, when needed.
  • Technicians can expect to work local routes & be home every night; however, on-call rotations & weekend emergency deliveries may be needed on occasion.

Skills needed for success as a Propane Service Technician include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Have a strong mechanical background with ability to troubleshoot & resolve problems effectively & efficiently.
  • Experience working in the Propane/Gas/Fuels/HVAC/Plumbing industries would be helpful, but not required.
  • Ability to obtain a full understanding of propane service work; installation records, leak testing, pressure checks, etc.
  • Written, verbal & computer communication skills in the English Language
  • Exceptional Customer Service skills
  • Ability to work inside & outside in Nebraska's ever-changing climate.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. on occasion; standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, walking daily is required.
  • Desire to be actively involved in the Cooperative.

FC will consider candidates from outside the propane industry with relevant service or installation experience.
This position offers specialized training & certification which Frontier Cooperative will provide to you after you are employed. Within the first 60 days of employment, you will be required to obtain:
  • A Class B or Class A Commercial License (training provided)
  • Hazmat and Tank Endorsements, Air Brake Endorsements (training provided)
  • DOT Medical Card
  • CETP Certification (training provided)
