Propane Tanks information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Propane Tank Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Propane Tank Technician, you need a solid understanding of propane systems, safety regulations, and mechanical aptitude, often supported by a high school diploma and industry certifications such as CETP (Certified Employee Training Program). Familiarity with leak detectors, pressure gauges, hand tools, and regulatory compliance systems is essential. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and effective communication are vital soft skills for interacting with customers and ensuring safety. These skills and qualities are crucial for maintaining safe and efficient propane operations, preventing hazards, and delivering reliable service.

What are some common safety challenges faced by propane tank technicians, and how are these typically addressed in the workplace?

Propane tank technicians often work with pressurized gases and flammable materials, making safety a top priority. Common challenges include ensuring proper handling during installation, preventing leaks, and following strict protocols during maintenance or transportation. Employers typically address these challenges by providing comprehensive safety training, personal protective equipment (PPE), and regular safety drills. Team members also collaborate closely to double-check connections and follow regulatory guidelines, creating a supportive environment focused on minimizing risks.

What are propane tanks and what are they used for?

Propane tanks are portable or stationary containers designed to store and supply propane gas, a popular fuel used for heating, cooking, and powering appliances. They come in various sizes, ranging from small cylinders for grills to large tanks for residential or commercial use. Propane tanks are commonly used in homes, businesses, farms, and recreational vehicles where a natural gas line is unavailable. They are valued for their portability, efficiency, and clean-burning properties. Proper handling and regular maintenance are important for safety and optimal performance.

Small Equipment Operator - Propane Tank Installation

Join Our Team at Kimlin Energy!

We're seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Small Equipment Operator to join our growing team. In this role, you'll play a key part in safely installing underground propane tanks and gas lines for residential customers. If you have a keen eye for spotting potential hazards and experience operating excavators, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

Locate underground utilities, including gas lines, septics, water lines, and other unmarked infrastructure, using diligence, educated guesswork, and a light touch to minimize risks.

Collaborate with sales teams and customers to determine optimal tank placement.

Excavate sites for underground lines and propane tanks, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Operate small equipment and transport it using our trucks (CDL A required for truck operation—no current CDL needed, but must be eligible to obtain one).

Complete jobs efficiently: Most installations take less than a day, with potential for 2-3 per day if sites are nearby.

Requirements:

Experience operating excavators or similar small equipment.

Strong attention to detail and safety mindset, especially with unmarked utilities.

Ability to work independently and make informed decisions on-site.

Physical fitness for outdoor labor in various weather conditions.

Valid driver's license; must be able to obtain CDL A.

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in landscaping, general labor, or construction with hands-on excavator experience.

No prior propane knowledge required—we provide full training!

This is a hands-on position where your skills in careful excavation and problem-solving will make a real difference. Competitive pay, training opportunities, and a supportive team environment await
