What is a weekend propane?

Weekend Propane jobs typically refer to positions in the propane industry that require employees to work on weekends. These jobs can include tasks such as delivering propane, refilling tanks, providing customer service, performing safety checks, and maintaining equipment. Weekend shifts are often needed to meet customer demand for propane deliveries and services outside of standard business hours. These roles may be ideal for individuals seeking part-time employment or supplemental income, and often require a valid driver’s license and the ability to handle heavy equipment safely.

What does a weekend propane delivery driver do?

As a Weekend Propane Delivery Driver, your shifts usually involve early morning starts and can include both scheduled and emergency deliveries to residential or commercial customers. You’ll spend much of your time driving, loading and unloading propane tanks, and ensuring all safety protocols are followed during each delivery. Communication with dispatchers and customers is essential, as is completing delivery logs and minor tank inspections. Weekend shifts can be busier due to increased customer demand or urgent requests, so adaptability and strong time management skills are important.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a weekend propane delivery driver?

To thrive as a Weekend Propane Delivery Driver, you generally need a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), knowledge of safe propane handling, and a clean driving record. Familiarity with delivery routing systems, propane tanks and meters, and relevant safety certifications like HAZMAT are typically required. Strong time management, customer service skills, and reliability help drivers build trust with clients and handle unexpected issues efficiently. These skills ensure timely, safe deliveries and positive customer experiences, which are critical in this service-focused role.

Seasonal Propane Driver (November - March)

Park Rapids, MN • On-site

$30 - $35/hr

Temporary

Posted 13 days ago

Job description

Winter Work That Actually Pays.

Seasonal/Weekend Propane Drivers (Class B CDL) | $30–$35/hr | Mid-November to Mid-March | Home Every Night | MN & WI

Around here, a lot of good work stops when the ground freezes. Construction shuts down. The excavators and paving crews park. Landscaping wraps up, harvest is in, the resorts board up, and the seasonal jobs that carried you all summer go quiet until the thaw.

That is exactly when our season starts.

Superior Fuel Company hires seasonal Class B drivers every November to deliver propane through the heating season. Four months of full-time hours at $30–$35 an hour, home every night, covering the exact stretch of the calendar where most seasonal work has nothing to offer.

If you have a Class B and a clean record, we will teach you the propane side. The rest of it — early starts, cold mornings, working on your own and getting it done without somebody standing over you — you already know.

This Job Was Built for People Whose Winter Is Wide Open

  • Construction, excavating, paving, and dump truck drivers who get laid off with the frost.
  • Landscaping, lawn care, tree, and ag drivers staring down a quiet four months.
  • Resort, marina, and tourismseason workers who watch the income stop in October.
  • School bus and parttime drivers who want real fulltime hours for a stretch.
  • Retired drivers who miss having somewhere to be and a reason to get up.
  • Anybody with a Class B who would rather have a solid winter paycheck than a thin one.
  • You do not need a propane background. You do not need to commit to a year. You need a license, a clean record, and the kind of work ethic that shows up at 6 a.m. in January.

    What You Get
  • $26$30/hr base depending on experience, plus a delivery commission incentive — most seasonal drivers land at $30$35/hr.
  • Fulltime hours through the heart of the heating season. This is not a few shifts a week.
  • Home every night. No overtheroad, no living out of a motel, no weeks away from your family.
  • Your truck, your route, your day. Dispatch sets the stops; how the day runs is on you.
  • Paid, handson training on the propane side — you will be running solo by December.
  • A returning driver bonus. A lot of our seasonal guys make this an everywinter thing, and we would rather have you back than train someone new.
  • The Schedule
  • Start: second half of November. You train through the end of the month and run your own route by December.
  • Finish: midMarch, when the heating season winds down and your spring work is starting back up.
  • Four months, clean start, clean finish. No awkward conversation with your summer employer.
  • The Honest Version

The heating season is the busy season, and cold snaps make it busier. You will work in weather that keeps other people inside, walk driveways that have not been shoveled, and drag hose through snow. The pay reflects that. The drivers who love this job are the ones who would rather be moving than sitting, and who like being the person who shows up when somebody is low on gas at 20 below.

    Position Details
  • Job Title: Seasonal Propane Delivery Driver (Class B CDL)
  • Employment Type: Seasonal, midNovember through midMarch, with annual return incentives
  • Locations: Multiple bulk plant locations across Minnesota and Wisconsin
  • Reports to: Delivery Supervisor / Operations Manager
  • What You Will Do
  • Safely deliver propane to residential, agricultural, and commercial customers.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintain delivery records.
  • Operate delivery equipment in accordance with DOT, EPA, and company standards.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatchers and customers.
  • Complete delivery documentation and tank inspections as required.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • What You Need
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Valid Class B CDL or higher with hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements.
  • Missing hazmat or tanker? Apply anyway and ask — the right candidate is worth working with.

  • Clean driving record; able to pass a DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Propane experience preferred but not required. We train.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate well with customers.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, and reaching overhead.
  • Operate manual hose reels and handheld delivery equipment.
  • Climb in and out of the truck cab and on and off the rear deck multiple times daily.
  • Extended periods of driving and walking over uneven, snowcovered terrain.
