Job description

About the role and team

Interns at Uber don't just observe - they build. You'll take on meaningful projects, move fast, and be trusted from day one. In this role, you will work alongside a collective of doers to tackle ambitious problems, designing and developing software that impacts millions of users who rely on the Uber platform every day.

You will join a dynamic, supportive team of backend, frontend, and mobile engineers, along with product managers and data scientists. This environment is built for those who thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced setting where you are expected to take ownership of your work and contribute to the real-world movement of people and assets globally.

What you'll do

  • Work with your manager and mentor to drive exciting, ambiguous, previously unsolved projects from end to end.
  • Design, develop, and test software applications and components using Uber's modern technology stack.
  • Propose ideas, implement solutions, experiment, and launch features that directly impact the customer experience for riders, drivers, and merchants.
  • Keep the bar high on sustainable engineering by following best practices for code health, documentation, testing, and monitoring.
  • Influence other engineers and stakeholders by applying technical knowledge to evaluate complex data and resolve technical issues.
  • Own your work with independence, moving projects forward while collaborating with cross-functional teams across different global offices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's (3rd/4th year) or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Must have at least one remaining semester of school left after the completion of the internship.
  • Prior exposure to software engineering best practices through university projects, coding challenges, or previous internships.
  • Proficiency in one or more application or systems languages such as Go, Python, Java, or C/C++.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Member of the 2026 Uber Career Prep Cohort
  • Experience building scalable tools or infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong commitment to writing understandable, maintainable, and reusable software.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new languages and methodologies quickly.
  • Evidence of technical leadership or initiative in hackathons and coding competitions.

Ready to Ride?

This isn't the kind of place where you follow a playbook - it's where you help write one. If you're driven by impact, energized by challenge, and ready to shape how the world moves - we'd love to hear from you.
