Supply Planning Manager - Job Description
The Supply Planning Manager is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material availability to support customer demand, production schedules, and business objectives. This role leads the development of supply plans based on demand forecasts, inventory targets, supplier capabilities, and operational constraints. The position works cross-functionally with Sales, Demand Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Operations to identify risks, resolve shortages, and drive supply continuity.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capabilities, advanced Excel skills, deep knowledge of demand planning and forecasting processes, and experience managing supply constraints in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Supply & Demand Planning
  • Analyze demand forecasts, inventory levels, supplier lead times, and manufacturing capacity to ensure material availability.
  • Monitor supply versus demand balance and proactively identify gaps, shortages, bottlenecks, and excess inventory risks.
  • Lead scenario planning and develop mitigation strategies for material shortages and supply disruptions.
  • Support monthly S&OP and demand review processes with data-driven analysis and recommendations.

Procurement & Supplier Management
  • Partner with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and components.
  • Monitor supplier performance in delivery, quality, responsiveness, and capacity.
  • Coordinate expediting activities and recovery plans when supply constraints arise.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to develop sourcing strategies and inventory plans that support business objectives.
  • Manage critical material requirements and communicate risks to leadership.

Analytics & Reporting
  • Build and maintain supply planning models, reports, and dashboards using advanced Excel.
  • Perform demand trend analysis, forecast validation, inventory analysis, and supply-risk assessments.
  • Develop KPI reporting for forecast accuracy, service levels, inventory turns, supplier performance, and material availability.
  • Conduct what-if and scenario analysis to support decision making.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Procurement teams to align supply plans with business priorities.
  • Facilitate regular reviews of inventory positions, supply risks, capacity constraints, and recovery plans.
  • Present supply plans, risks, and recommendations to leadership teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within planning and procurement processes.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of 6-8 purchasing professionals
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance management
  • Establish a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork

Adaptability & Continuous Improvement
  • Demonstrate flexibility in responding to changing supply chain conditions
  • Identify and implement process improvements across purchasing operations
  • Drive efficiencies in systems, reporting, and supplier performance

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Supply Planning, Demand Planning, Procurement, Materials Management, Production Planning, or Supply Chain Operations.
  • Strong understanding of forecasting methodologies, demand planning processes, inventory management, and supply chain principles.
  • Experience managing supplier performance and material availability in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to analyze large data sets and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
