Almost half of the Yellowstone summer staff work for the Food and Beverage Operation! The Food and Beverage Department offers a fast-paced, guest-focused, and team-driven environment where excellence in service and hospitality is the standard. Job Summary:

We are currently seeking an Assistant Director of Food and Beverage who is passionate about service leadership and committed to fostering an environment where both guests and team members thrive. This position requires a dynamic and passionate individual who aligns with our mission to create memorable dining experiences through high-quality, sustainable practices. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated steward of legendary hospitality, fostering an environment where both guests and team members thrive. This role is primarily focused on front-of-house leadership, ensuring service standards, guest engagement, and operational consistency across all dining outlets.

The Details:Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round

Wage: $93,000

Schedule: Typical schedule is 45+ hours, 5 days/per week (will include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Housing: May not be included - most employees find housing in Gardiner, MT, Emigrant, MT or Livingston, MT

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Inspire and lead Food and Beverage Management, ensuring a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Work together with the Director of Food and Beverage and other stakeholders to identify, support, and develop Food and Beverage leadership teams.
  • Foster an environment of mentorship and professional growth in alignment with our hospitality mission.

Front-of-House Operations:

  • Ensure outstanding dining experiences across all outlets, including full-service dining rooms, fast-casual locations, delis, and cafeterias.
  • Oversee the setup and seasonal updates of the Table Management and Dinner Reservation system.
  • Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Training Manager to implement comprehensive, front-of-house training programs that align with corporate initiatives and operational needs.
  • Ensure front-of-the-house staffing structures, service flow, and operational readiness support efficient service delivery and a consistent, high-quality guest experience.
  • Support managers in addressing real-time service challenges, guest recovery situations, and operational decision-making to ensure positive guest outcomes.

Operational & Financial Management:

  • Drive operational efficiency while maintaining high-quality service standards.
  • Assist in the oversight of POS systems, payment processing procedures, and financial controls.
  • Supervise the Manager of Food and Beverage Administrative Operations. Provide administrative oversight of the department, including capital planning, and project management.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Food and Beverage and other key stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and manage project timelines and budgets to ensure seamless execution of capital projects.
  • Play a key role in facility remodels, technology upgrades, and operational enhancements to enhance efficiency and guest experience.

Guest Experience & Service Excellence:

  • Participate in the development of initiatives to enhance guest satisfaction, maintain the highest standards of service, and reinforce a culture of hospitality.

Private Functions & Events:

  • Assist the Banquet Management team as needed to ensure seamless planning, execution and delivery of private functions and special events, with emphasis on front-of-the-house coordination and the guest experience.

Sustainability & Stewardship:

  • Champion sustainable dining practices and align operations with environmentally responsible initiatives.
  • Promote waste reduction and energy efficiency within all food and beverage outlets.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Uphold and enforce company safety policies to ensure a secure environment for guests and staff.
  • Maintain sanitation standards and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison to internal departments, including Learning & Development, Risk Management, Field Accounting, Internal Auditing, and Laundry Services.
Qualifications
    • Passion for hospitality, service excellence, and sustainable dining practices.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a senior F&B leadership role, including demonstrated experience managing multi-unit operations.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, develop, and inspire teams.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Experience managing capital projects and facility improvements.
    • Ability to analyze financial data and drive operational efficiencies.
    • Strong working knowledge of front-of-house operations, service standards, reservation systems, and guest experience management.
    • Knowledge of food and beverage operations, training methods, and industry best practices.
    • ServSafe food-handling certification (workshops provided if not currently certified).
    • TIPs responsible alcohol service certification (workshops provided if not currently certified).
    • Willingness to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Valid driver's license required.
    • In-park and overnight travel required.

    Preferred Qualifications (if applicable):

    • Experience in a hospitality or resort environment.
    • Knowledge of company structure and policies helpful.

    Physical Requirements include:

    • Ability to be stationary, navigate the workplace, bend, and stretch for extended periods.
    • Capable of lifting and carrying a minimum of 35 pounds.
    • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
