Job description

Bastian Automation, a division of Toyota Automated Logistics, is seeking a skilled and versatile Project Engineer with automation experience to join our Autonomous Vehicle Division in Georgetown, KY.

Job Overview

As a Project Engineer, you will play a vital role in the development and execution of complex projects. Your focus will be on the technical aspects of research, innovation, and debugging complex systems. By delivering cutting-edge solutions to our clients and promoting a culture of continuous improvement, you will make a significant impact on the success of our projects. You will collaborate closely with project teams and engage with various internal and external groups, utilizing your extensive knowledge in the automation and AGV field to ensure successful project implementation and customer satisfaction.

Job Functions

  • Develop and design automation systems, incorporating system concepts, design elements, and traffic or machine interlocks.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex systems, including electrical, PLCs, navigation systems, sensors, logistics, and networking.
  • Assemble vehicles and systems as needed, and provide on-site installation support.
  • Support the development of new products, such as AGVs and accessories.
  • Offer technical assistance to current customers and dealers for automation and AGV projects in their regions.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical documentation, including specifications and user manuals.

Travel Requirements:

  • 50% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Automation)

Required Qualifications and Preferred Skills:

  • Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. A Bachelor's Degree with equivalent technical experience will be considered. MS or MBA is a plus.
  • Demonstrated servant leadership skills, experience working in a team, and a strong commitment to kaizen principles.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Passion for Robotics, Autonomous Vehicle systems, Supply Chain Automation, and Logistics.
  • Thrive working in a fast-paced, high-tech R&D environment.
  • Experience with robotic systems, autonomous vehicles, material handling systems, warehouse management systems, Python, or ROS.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and technical writing skills, with the ability to create clear, concise, and impactful specifications and documentation
  • Employees must follow all information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report any suspected security incidents to support our information security controls.
