Location: St. Michael, MN

Position Description:

Rachel Contracting is seeking qualified applicants for an Estimator/Project Manager - Residential Development.


Rachel Contracting is a specialty site-work contractor performing earthwork, demolition and utilities primarily in the Midwest/Central US region. Our team welcomes individuals who are passionate about their work and committed to delivering quality workmanship with integrity and professionalism.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Estimating and project management of residential earthwork projects for private clients.
  2. Navigates and understands cost accounting for on-going projects including daily/weekly cost verifications, review/confirmation of daily logs, change orders, monthly project cost projections, approving project invoicing, etc.
  3. Perform all necessary project communications with clients, field staff, office support staff and management.
  4. Maintain necessary estimating and project files.
  5. Assist with mentoring of junior estimator/project managers and seasonal interns.
  6. Training and assisting with coordination of interns performing takeoffs and other miscellaneous support tasks.
  7. Preparing take-offs for residential earthwork projects.
  8. Manage and monitor project billings and collections, attending project meetings, representing Rachel Contracting with client/customers/vendors, subcontractors, coordinating/directing field staff as necessary, and complete project communications.
  9. Perform continuous marketing of existing company clients and assist with efforts to generate/develop new client relationships.

  1. Related residential earthwork construction experience of 5+ years and a college degree (desired but not a requirement)
  2. Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  3. Ability to be a team leader under challenging conditions
  4. Demonstrate positive outlook
  5. Dependability: showing initiative and good follow through
  6. Solid organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  7. Self-starter with the ability to effectively prioritize
  8. Light travel may be required
