Job description

Summary Description: The Project Manager, reports to the Director, Energy Services & Technology. This position is responsible for managing projects that support NCEMCโ€™s development and deployment of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) projects, including microgrids and battery energy storage systems (BESS), and Grid Modernization programs.

Academic and Trade Qualications: Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering, science, or business is required; however, work experience can be substituted for education.

Work Experience: At least (2) years of progressive power/energy experience to include data analytics, DERMS platforms, and DER development and deployment. Project management experience for construction and/or other projects is highly desired. Specic experience with DERMS/DRMS platforms, DER development and deployment (microgrids and BESS) - data infrastructure, functionality denition, development and implementation, requirement development, and vendor management is highly desired. A working knowledge of IT development cycles and IT platform project management is desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with DER Engineering including contracted firms, Portfolio and Resource Optimization, and IT to evaluate, design, validate, integrate, and implement new DER projects and Grid Modernization programs
  • Prepare and present regular updates covering new DER Capabilities and Grid Modernization programs including major functionality development, member cooperative coordination/collaboration, vendor relationship and issues related to integration into the DERMS platform that require additional leadership involvement
  • Develop presentations and white papers in support of updating NCEMC and cooperative leadership, providing case studies to NCEMC and partner entities, and advertising the capabilities of NCEMCโ€™s Grid Modernization eorts
  • Assist with the annual work plan and budget preparations
  • Maintain professional development
  • Manage relationships with research partners, including national labs, to meet the objectives of site-specific projects
  • Lead stakeholder meetings (internal/external) to engage stakeholders and share project information
  • Develop and deliver reports on workplace activities
  • Perform other duties as required

Job Knowledge:

  • Maintain up-to-date project management knowledge of DER (microgrid, BESS) control systems, communication systems, and capabilities through seminars, conferences, and educational opportunities
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of research and regulation related to Grid Modernization and DER including IEEE products, national lab research, EPRI projects, and policy
  • Detailed working knowledge of personal computers is necessary, including software applications required. Prociency in Microsoft Oce products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, MS project software skills is a plus

Working Conditions: Normal oce or work at home conditions with occasional overtime, travel to Member EMCs, and various other locations. NCEMCโ€™s current work schedule is three (3) days in the oce and two (2) days remote.
