Position Overview
Our Quality Managers are boots on the ground in the field and work the duration of the project to ensure the construction is performed to the highest quality standards. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of a contract-specific Project Quality Plan (PQP) and all other quality related functions necessary to deliver the project fully compliant with the contract documents. The PQM is a member of the project management team, and therefore must be able to work with minimal supervision, interact professionally with the project team and client personnel, have excellent written / verbal communication and conflict resolution skills, manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively, have a Continuous Improvement (CI) and Total Quality Management (TQM) mentality, and takes the lead role in managing quality on the project.
District Overview
Kiewit's Quality Group is a shared service that maintains and executes quality standards on projects across the company. Our principal quality objectives are to meet or exceed clients' expectations and to eliminate rework by performing our work "right the first time." We monitor our performance against these objectives and require continual improvement.
Location
Location: This is a highly travel-based role supporting projects across the Midwest.
Candidates should expect frequent travel and extended time in the field depending on project needs.
Responsibilities
• Manage the development and implementation, of a contract-specific Project Quality Plan (PQP) Review and approve subcontractor quality plans to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
• Ensure quality staff is adequately assigned, trained, and qualified to execute the PQP and that all project staff has access to the appropriate quality resources
• Responsible for the implementation and oversight of a Quality Assurance Program in a construction environment, to include, but not limited to, issues management, nonconformance reporting, subcontractor oversight, internal assessments/audits, causal analysis, commercial grade dedication, inspections, procurement oversight, and commissioning and turnover.
• Lead and mentor junior QA/QC personnel to ensure the correct behaviors are developed and reinforced.
• Maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with the Client team while understanding their requirements and expectations while continuing to reinforce a construction safety culture.
• Interpret quality standards and regulatory requirements and define implementation strategies.
• Collaborate closely with district quality management to ensure consistent implementation across the company.
• Coordinate and perform causal analysis investigations on project-related issues.
• Coordinate and perform QA audits and assessments on the QMS, PQP, subcontractor quality plans, and other processes / procedures (which may include other business unit functions). Document findings and assign / implement effective Corrective Action
• Analyze findings to identify trends that could be potential risks to the project. Work with the project management team to develop and implement mitigation strategies to remove or reduce those risks
• Promote Continuous Improvement and the timely reporting of all conditions that affect the project
• Be actively engaged in operation planning sessions, providing input from a Quality standpoint and ensuring that Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) are developed for all operations
• Ensure that all Quality documentation required for project turnover is completed, compliant with contractual requirements, and stored in an organized manner
• Routinely speak and /or present at meetings to promote quality goals / objectives and to discuss issues
• Perform routine performance reviews with all project Quality staff
• Manage the development and implementation, of a contract-specific Project Quality Plan (PQP)
• Review and approve subcontractor quality plans to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
• Ensure quality staff is adequately assigned, trained, and qualified to execute the PQP and that all project staff has access to the appropriate quality resources
• Responsible for the implementation and oversight the quality program or assist in the oversight with a more senior Quality Manager, to include, but not limited to, issues management, nonconformance reporting, subcontractor oversight, internal assessments/audits, causal analysis, commercial grade dedication, inspections, procurement oversight, and commissioning and turnover.
• Experience leading and mentoring more junior QA/QC personnel to ensure the correct behaviors are developed and reinforced.

Qualifications
  • A four-year degree, preferred in engineering, science, or technical college degree with a minimum of five plus years of quality experience, performing functions as outlined above for an EPC or industrial environment, or An associates degree in engineering technology/science with minimum of eight plus years of quality experience as outlined above, with at least five (5) of these years in an EPC or industrial Quality position.
    • If no degree, high school graduate or equivalent (GED) with fifteen + years of experience in a related construction field and/or engineering with at least ten (10) of these years in a Quality position.
    • A thorough knowledge, understanding, and experience implementing a QualityManagement Systems (QMS) for construction projects.
    • Self-starter with organizational, managerial, and leadership skills. Must be able to manage teams crews and/or Quality crews, have effective organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong verbal and technical writing skills. Must be able to communicate to large groups of craft personnel as well as management and client teams ASQ Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) or similar certification is recommended.
    • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments
    • Working knowledge of construction industry codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements (ASSHTO, ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.) associated with the work.
    • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector Cert is preferred, but not required.

Base Compensation: $165,000.00 - $185,000.00
