Job description

REBELLION FABRICATION

Director of Project Management

At Rebellion Fabrication, we don't believe project leadership is about babysitting schedules or simply recording updates. We believe in ownership. Real ownership.

The Director of Project Management is accountable for developing the project team, driving operational execution, and helping elevate the overall performance of the business. This position goes beyond traditional project management — it requires leadership, decision-making, accountability, and the ability to align people, process, communication, and execution.

This role serves on the Leadership Team and will play a critical role in scaling Rebellion Fabrication's project operations as the company continues to grow.

The Mission

The Director of Project Management is responsible for driving the successful execution of projects from kickoff through closeout while building and leading a high-performing project management culture.

You'll coach Project Managers.

You'll develop systems and accountability.

You'll help solve operational challenges before they become project failures.

You'll ensure your team balances relationships, schedules, budgets, manpower, fabrication realities, detailing coordination, and field execution — all while maintaining high standards.

You'll also build something. This is not a role that inherits a finished PM function. You're walking into a team of talented Project Managers who need direction, development, and a clear standard of excellence. Your job is to build the culture, the systems, and the team — not just manage the workload.

This role requires:

• High ownership and accountability

• Strong leadership, coaching, and team development ability

• Operational and financial awareness

• High EQ and communication skills

• Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity

• Strong decision-making under pressure

• A proactive mindset focused on execution and solutions

• The ability to align people and process while maintaining momentum

• The ability to thrive when priorities shift and problems need solved quickly

• The maturity to earn trust from an existing team — and a leadership team with high standards

If you understand how to lead people and drive execution through a team — and you're energized by building, not just maintaining — we should talk.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Project Leadership & Execution

• Oversee execution across multiple active projects and Project Managers, holding the team accountable for delivery on schedule, within budget, and aligned with customer expectations

• Set direction on project strategy, sequencing, and execution planning, and hold PMs accountable for delivery

• Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and operational issues before they escalate

• Support Project Managers in resolving difficult project challenges and customer situations

• Ensure PMs drive cross-department coordination across fabrication, detailing, procurement, and erection

• Monitor project financial performance, forecasting, cash flow, job costing, project prioritization, and workload balancing across the portfolio

• Implement and improve project management systems, workflows, and standards

Leadership & Team Development

• Coach and mentor a team of three Project Managers — developing technical skills, ownership habits, and professional standards

• Establish accountability and ownership expectations across the department

• Build a PM culture where proactive communication, urgency, and operational excellence are the standard

• Support hiring, onboarding, development, and performance management of project personnel

• Own the growth of the PM function as the team expands

• Lead department and leadership-level meetings and facilitate alignment between internal teams and external stakeholders

• Collaborate with the Leadership Team to improve scalability, efficiency, and execution consistency

Preconstruction & Internal Alignment

• Serve as the bridge between preconstruction and execution — deeply understanding how jobs were sold, estimated, and scoped before they hit the floor

• Partner with estimating and sales during handoffs to ensure projects are set up for success from day one

• Identify and close gaps between what was sold and what is being built before they become margin problems

• Collaborate with the Leadership Team on pipeline awareness, resource planning, and capacity constraints

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, engineers, architects, detailers, and steel erectors

• Lead difficult conversations professionally and proactively

• Ensure clear, consistent communication and reporting with customers, internal teams, and leadership

• Support strategic business relationships and long-term customer partnerships

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or related field

• Proven leadership experience managing Project Managers or operational teams — a track record of developing people, not just directing them

• 10+ years of project management experience; steel fabrication, specialty structural construction, and specialty architectural experience strongly preferred.

• Portfolio of managed projects exceeding $100MM through direct management or team leadership

• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and operational planning; emphasis on WIP reporting

• Strong working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Teams, Bluebeam, and project management systems

• Demonstrated tenacity — the ability to push through complexity, manage a high volume of detail, and execute with completeness without letting things fall through the cracks

• Equivalent experience, leadership, and real-world execution will absolutely be considered
