Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Programs, Inc. (WPI) is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our team in Durham, NC.

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) is responsible for overseeing the safe, timely, and complete technical execution of on-site activities in accordance with contract requirements. The APM is also responsible for technical execution of requirements within an established annual budget for the project. The role requires knowledge and experience of firm fixed price contract delivery as well as knowledge of time and material acquisitions through a structured ordering process. The APM will be on-site to manage the requirements of the contract during normal duty hours, and may serve as Project Manager in times when the Project Manager is absent or unavailable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Acts as primary contact to review schedules, cost, and technical performance with production Line Managers
  • Ensures federal, state, local and corporate policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversees day-to-day technical performance of on-site work crews
  • Enforce safety standards to achieve a safety culture where no accidents occur.
  • Ensures that all work performed on behalf of the company meets all contract requirements, quality standards, and is delivered on-time.
  • Develops and maintains positive, partnership type, relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Evaluates schedules and work assignments to ensure available resources to execute required tasks.
  • Ensures proper and complete information is supplied to assemble and submit required reports.
  • Must read and completely understand the contract and be able to make decisions that ensure contract compliance
  • Attend client meetings to discuss that status of ongoing and future work
Skills / QualificationsProject Manager Experience/Requirements.

The ideal candidate must hold a North Carolina General Contractors License and have at least 10 years, project or program management experience and knowledge of the following areas:

  • Proven knowledge of building systems and facility operation and maintenance best practices
  • Managing multiple government task orders IDIQ or TM
  • Managing through others, utilize team building and delegation skills to ensure the most efficient performance.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of IDIQ work services.
  • Experience of reviewing and approving maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Reviewing and preparing reports and technical assessments.
  • Experience working with Union Collective Bargaining Agreements.
