The Construction Manager has the ultimate responsibility for the project budget, meeting project timelines, customer expectations, managing construction project teams made up of in-house engineering and construction teams as well as subcontractors. The Construction Manager will typically have a geographical region, when applicable, where they manage the various OSP fiber construction projects within their region.**Essential Functions:***Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.** Responsible for management of underground and aerial construction personnel* Coordinate with OSP Planning to prepare preliminary cost estimates and route proposals including descriptions of the proposed project and a map showing the preliminary route that is the basis for the estimate.* Work closely with Senior Leadership and other Staff to plan, schedule, update, and identify operational problems or obstacles.* Ensure proper resources are assigned and workload of resources.* Accurately and effectively prepare written correspondence to project team.* Attend construction meetings when requested* Read and interpret construction documents, i.e.; prints and plans as well as splicing diagrams that are used in the splicing of fiber optics.* Review preliminary construction prints from Right of Way authorities and determine potential conflicts; attend utility coordination meetings and construction progress meetings as needed.* Assist leadership in identifying and removing potential project roadblocks.* Establish positive relationships with team members, partners, and municipalities* Establish positive management and employee relationships.* Manage personnel issues, recommend promotions, and recommend needs for new positions.* Ensure all employees have a safe working environment.* Work closely with Engineering to ensure continuous feedback on the OSP design and any changes made to the design* Comfortable recommending design changes to increase build efficiency* Meet project goals, production, and other management reports.* Arrange for training as needed for employees.* Other duties as determined necessary.**Education and Experience:*** Minimum 5 years managing OSP construction projects* FTTH construction leadership experience preferred* Knowledge of common FTTH PON Design and engineering practices* Project Management Experience on FTTH projects highly preferred* Strong with Excel, Google Earth, and various Project Mgmt. databases* Experience performing site walks, cost estimating, site layout planning* Team Oriented mindset**Job Classification:*** Construction* Non-Exempt**Work Environment****/Hazards:*** Primarily remote* Will cover various locations throughout Iowa**Working Hours/Days:*** Monday thru Friday* Full-time* Overtime as needed**Travel Requirements:*** 50% of travel required**Affirmative Action (AAP/EEO Statement):**Nextlink is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
