Who are we looking for?

The person in this role will thoroughly scope, plan, drive, and successfully execute high priority factory construction, expansion, and startup/qualification projects within the global supply chain organization. The ideal candidate will have meticulous attention to detail, a tenacity to adhere to commitments, and extensive experience in project management of multiple project types using project management tools.ย  ย Project management requires an ability to influence and drive accountability outside of direct managerial influence and through third party contractors and external engineering support. Adept at connecting individual actions and accountabilities to the high level project and defined business objectives. The preferred candidate will also be able to understand both large scale construction project management through general contractors and subcontractors as well as the micro schedule driven details of engineering design deliverables and execution from breaking ground, through permitting and equipment setting, to successful startup and handover to full production. Based in Fremont CA.

What will you be doing?
  • Responsible for end-to-end scoping, planning, management, and execution of critical capital factory projects, heavily focused on ActiveCopperTM manufacturing across several factories, concurrently.
  • Accountable to overall schedule, to scope, and within spend, and generating project progress reports. Responsible for assembling project teams, defining plans and driving progress within varied project-type frameworks, reporting, ultimately leading cross-functional team efforts to completion.
  • Carry out cost, time, and resource planning with both external vendors, general contractors, and internal engineering managers to ensure delivery and intersection with business needs. Assess project risks and define countermeasures well in advance to mitigate impact.
  • Manage capital and operating expenses to budget, strictly monitoring impacts of scope or design changes where necessary, and driving team to thorough design reviews for first time right excellence.
  • Drive all aspects of regulatory compliance through permitting, equipment design and testing, hazardous materials handling, and other safety-focused design considerations with a forward looking, risk mitigation mentality.
  • Partner on a global level within the Global Engineering team, and alongside local Factory Operations Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Program Management, and third party support to ensure the relevant expertise is employed in defining, planning, and executing projects across various timescales.
  • Lead cross functional team meetings, facilitate communication up down and across, work with managers to address bottlenecks and resource balancing issues
  • Mentor junior project managers on best practices and support development of improved internal methods and tools for executing factory expansion.
Who are You?
  • BS degree in an Engineering discipline or other related applied technical field; PMP certification is a plus.
  • 8+ years' experience capital project management in a chemical products industry, including planning, negotiating resources, driving multiple complex projects forward concurrently, leading cross functional teams without direct line management authority.ย 
  • Experience in management of factory construction and startup.ย  Thoroughly capable of standard project management software, tools, and methods.ย  Experience with hazardous materials factory buildouts or expansions is desired.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management strategies, tools, and operational approaches to appropriately guide both short- and long-term projects, including projects requiring macro- and micro-scheduling of tasks, internal and external.
  • Knowledgeable of various regulatory requirements: hazardous materials and air quality permitting, construction and building permitting, environmental regulations, UL or other electrical standards, fire code, sufficient to drive compliance with the assistance of expert consultants.
  • Bottom-line oriented, an assertive and resilient team player able to operate within a high-performance cross-cultural team.
  • Confident and purposeful approach, paired with strong communication skills and social skills.
  • Critically fixated on scope, schedule, and spend adherence.
  • Approximate frequency of travel expected to be up to 20%, primarily domestic. ย Some work outside of standard business hours is expected to support Global teams.

The typical base salary range for this position is between $128,636.00 and $192,954.00
