Description:

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a licensed Architect to join our Land Development team. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. The Project Manager - Architecture researches, plans, designs and administers building projects to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. The candidate should be a self-starter, driven, high performer with good communication skills.


Our ideal candidate will have 8+ years of architecture design and project management experience supporting design projects. This position is responsible for complex design tasks as well as marketing, business development, client contact and growth of a team.


Requirements:
  • Consults with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time
  • Visits project site to become familiar with existing conditions
  • Prepares fee proposals and time, cost and staffing budgets for project for Department Head approval
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
  • Plans layout of project and integrating engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval
  • Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors
  • Represents client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contract
  • Administers construction contracts and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans
  • Prepares studies and reports
  • Prepares project designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipment
  • Directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents
  • Resolves client problems and complaints and provides technical advice to project staff
  • Performs final quality assurance/buildability review of project documents
  • Signs and seals project documents prepared under his supervision
  • Understands and obeys site safety requirements for construction sites

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of the art and science of designing buildings and structures, styles of design, and methods of construction of buildings and other physical structures
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written communication, specifications and drawings
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals or government regulations
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and other discipline specific software

  • Valid drivers license and a satisfactory driving record


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from a five-year college or university
  • Architectural license in respective state and current NCARB record which must be maintained on an ongoing basis
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in architecture design
