Position Summary
The Project Manager II is responsible for managing multi-million-dollar automated material handling projects across baggage handling, warehouse automation, and parcel sortation operations throughout North America. This role oversees the administrative, contractual, technical, and financial aspects of projects while ensuring successful delivery against schedule, budget, and performance requirements.
Working within a fast-paced, matrixed organization, the Project Manager II collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders to drive project success. Depending on the size and complexity of the program, the role may report to a Project Director on large programs or independently manage smaller projects.
Overview
  • Manage automated material handling projects across baggage handling, warehouse automation, and parcel sortation systems in North America.
  • Lead project execution in a multi-disciplinary and matrixed environment, coordinating cross-functional teams and subcontractors.
  • Ensure project performance aligns with technical specifications, contractual commitments, and system design requirements.
  • Serve as a key liaison between internal teams, customers, and stakeholders to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the administrative, contractual, technical, and financial management of projects while maintaining accountability for overall project profitability.
  • Manage the project master schedule, internal commitments, and customer deliverables to ensure timely completion of contractual obligations.
  • Act as the primary interface with customers and key stakeholders, providing regular project updates including monthly status reporting.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and subcontractors, managing risk, resolving conflicts, establishing priorities, and ensuring effective collaboration across departments.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience, demonstrating increasing levels of project value and complexity.
  • Experience managing medium-sized projects (up to $20M) within the construction or material handling industry.
  • Proven experience managing subcontractors, consultants, and complex stakeholder groups within large project environments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%, primarily during weekdays.

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, P.E., or LEED accreditation.
  • Experience working with automated control systems or automated material handling technologies.
  • Experience working within a global or international organization.
