Job Description:
The Human Resource Intern supports the Regional HR Director in day-to-day administration designed to provide hands-on exposure to HR functions. This role assists with compliance, payroll, onboarding, and maintaining HR records. The HR Intern supports the director in fostering a positive workplace culture. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain practical experience working in a part-time capacity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports new hire onboarding processes including new hire paperwork, completing required background checks and drug screens, completion of I-9, verifying employment eligibility documentation and maintaining proper employee files.
  • Assists with processing of terminations ensuring return of company property, proper closing out of employee file, final payroll and proper termination in all applicable systems.
  • Organize and maintain digital and physical files; tracks and scans employee documents for filing.
  • Assist with tracking employee training initiatives.
  • Help ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Supports Director with special projects and strategic objectives of the Human Resources department.
  • Performs other related duties and clerical tasks as assigned.

Experience and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of current human resource principles, practices and procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; prior experience with HRIS / Payroll systems a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, and computer printer.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
