Job description

Helix Electric has a need for a dependable Spotter to support safe, efficient jobsite operations. The successful candidate will be part of a production-driven team and will help protect crews, equipment, and surrounding work areas by maintaining awareness of changing jobsite conditions and supporting safe movement of personnel and equipment.
DUTIES & SCOPE:
  • Serve as a dedicated spotter for work activities requiring continuous visual monitoring and clear communication
  • Monitor active work areas for hazards, unauthorized access, and unsafe conditions
  • Help guide the safe movement and positioning of equipment, materials, and personnel in active work zones
  • Maintain visual contact with operators and nearby personnel during controlled work activities
  • Assist with barricades, warning zones, restricted-access areas, and traffic-control measures
  • Support ladder safety and work involving MEWPs by helping identify hazards and maintain clearances
  • Communicate immediately when work must pause, stop, or be adjusted for safety reasons
  • Follow project safety plans, job hazard analyses, site-specific requirements, and required trainings
  • Wear required PPE at all times and promote safe work practices on site
  • Perform other work as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior construction, industrial, warehouse, logistics, or jobsite support experience preferred
  • Prior experience working around moving equipment, elevated work, or active construction operations preferred
  • OSHA 10 required or ability to obtain as a condition of employment; OSHA 30 preferred where project-required
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures, hand signals, verbal directions, barricade requirements, and work-zone controls
  • Site-specific spotter, flagger, MEWP, or client-mandated safety training may be required depending on project scope
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves always), respirator when required.
  • Able to work 8-10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime, and night shifts as required.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, including crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
