Job description

Western Engineering Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced, dependable, and safety-driven Flagger Lead to join our road construction team. This seasonal leadership position is ideal for someone with a strong background in traffic control, a commitment to safety, and the ability to lead and mentor a team in a fast-paced construction environment.
As a Flagger Lead, you will oversee and coordinate flagging operations and traffic control on road construction projects, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of motorists, pedestrians, and construction personnel through work zones. You will be responsible for directing and supporting flagging crews, setting up and maintaining traffic control devices, ensuring compliance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), and promoting a culture of safety throughout every project.

Requirements
  • Communicate with project managers and construction crews to coordinate and schedule road closures and traffic control for road operations
  • Set up and maintain traffic control devices, signs, and cones to guide traffic through construction zones
  • Lead the team of flaggers in the construction zone, provide breaks as needed
  • Monitor traffic flow and adjust control measures as needed to minimize congestion and enhance safety
  • Observe and enforce safety regulations to protect both construction personnel and the public
  • Report any incidents or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay informed of best practices
  • Must possess an active driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Physical ability to lift, load and move traffic control devices and signs.
