Job description

 GAI Consultants is seeking a driven Project Engineer to join our high-performing water team, offering strong growth, leadership exposure, and impactful project work. An ideal candidate has water and sewer systems design and/or rehabilitation experience, permitting, and construction experience, and project bid package development. This role offers a clear path to expand into leadership, gain client exposure, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team delivering meaningful infrastructure solutions.

Job Duties:

  • Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary teams delivering innovative water and wastewater infrastructure solutions from planning through construction. Projects include collection and conveyance systems, water distribution networks, pump stations, storage and treatment facilities, as well as system evaluations, rehabilitation, and renewal and replacement initiatives. Provide technical execution and oversight of design projects including schematic/preliminary design, design development, final design, specifications, permitting, bid-phase services, and construction contract document production. Direct and manage a project team of engineers and technicians.
  • Lead water/ wastewater consulting tasks, including planning, detailed design calculations, alternative analysis and selection, cost estimating, equipment selection, project prioritization, and CIP development. Provide schedule and budget development and management for safety, quality assurance/ quality control, while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff while building your leadership profile and technical expertise. Requires regular client-facing interaction and periodic work from client offices and in the field to support collaboration, delivery, and inspection. Local travel within Allegheny County is expected (10-15%), with occasional additional travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic and adjacent states as needed for client meetings and project site visits.
