Controls Project Manager / Project Engineer-Fairfax, VA - Controls Company & Electrical Install
POSITION:
  • Controls Project Manager / Project Engineer
    • Mid-Level or Senior-Level
    • Hybrid of Office / Work-From-Home and Visiting Job-Sites about 2-3 days a week
    • Project manage around 10 projects when up-to-speed (will start-off with 3-5)
    • Project Size Range: $30,000 to $500,000
    • Total amount managed would be $1 million (some projects would not start yet, so actively managing $500-750K at one time)
LOCATION:
  • HQ'd in North Virginia (Fairfax, VA)
ABOUT COMPANY:
  • Company Size: about 25 Employees
  • Established about 35+ years ago; has been doing experience for about 20 years
  • Reps a Script-Based BAS Line and does Tridium Niagara Programming
  • Works Directly with the Owner and does a lot of Plan & Spec work (they get invited to bid and get spec our projects)
  • Services:
    • Mix of Retrofit, Services, and Design-Build/New Construction
    • Most projects consist of install
  • Clientele:
    • Working a lot with various School Districts
    • 1/3 of Revenue comes from Government Defense Work: Military Bases, U.S. Facilities
    • Class-A Commercial Buildings
    • Large Residential Complexes
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Project budgeting and financial/hours forecasting
  • Utilizing MS Excel/MS Office for project management tasks
  • Check on projects/customers - job-site visits
  • Documentation: Change Orders, RFIs, review/participate with submittal packages from the Project Engineer
  • Act as a liaison between customers and internal team members (Engineering Manager, Service Manager, Install Manager, etc)
  • Projects territory can be from South Baltimore, MD to Richmond, VA
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Previous project management or project engineering experience in any of the following: BAS Controls, Electrical, HVAC Mechanical, Construction, etc
  • Ability to be a chameleon - can adjust to changes and various customer types
  • *would consider a hand-on Controls professional who would like to get into project management.
