Summary

Director, [GEP] Development is primary responsible for providing commercial, contracting leadership and subject matter expertise on energy infrastructure projects including development activities, joint ventures, contract negotiations and execution of business plans for greenfield, brownfield, and mid-stage energy infrastructure projects across the U.S., including thermal generation, energy storage (e.g., lithium-ion and long-duration energy storage), renewable energy resources (e.g., solar, wind) low-carbon energy solutions (e.g., hydrogen, ammonia, carbon capture, and direct air capture) and LNG receiving and distribution infrastructure (Regas terminals, FSRU, Break Bulk) as business strategy dictates.

Position Description

Essential Functions

1.    Execute on business development activities related to energy infrastructure including thermal, low carbon dispatchable and low carbon technologies.   
2.    Oversee and/or support specific project development activities including create business strategies, project origination, coordination and leading execution efforts with a matrixed and cross functional team.
3.    Oversee and/or support commercial business development activities and product sales contracts across the full value chain.  Work seamlessly with the internal M&A teams.
4.    Support business development initiatives across various energy infrastructure segments
5.    Input and expertise on costs and commercial aspects of contracting for engineering, long lead equipment and EPC services to develop a comprehensive procurement strategy in collaboration with internal Engineering, Project Management and Supply Chain teams.
6.    Oversee and/or support developing commercial terms for joint ventures and specific asset projects including M&A activities    
7.    Support JERA Americas team with communications and interaction with JERA HQ staff on projects, evaluations, budgets and approvals
8.    Identifying, evaluating and developing energy infrastructure projects.
9.    Monitor and advancing innovative business concepts and technologies, where relevant, including project development, contracting, economics and logistics with potential partners
10.    Manage project development teams, prioritizing resources and assignments; employee career development
11.    Support JERA HQ on an as-need basis 
12.    Help people win at work and support JERA’s goals related to environmental stewardship
13.    Development and review contracts to ensure compliance with pricing, measurement, commitments, and other contract provisions. 
14.    Participate in external engagements and stay abreast of key trends and structures evolving in the external market to infuse into current projects.

16.    Develop projects in accordance with the JERA America’s project delivery framework.

Required Education and Experience

•    10 years’ experience in Power or Energy Project Development, including origination
