Location: Lenexa, KS

Build Your Future with GBA

At GBA, weโ€™re more than engineers and consultantsโ€”weโ€™re problem-solvers, collaborators, and trusted partners to the communities we serve. Our Water Environment teams work alongside municipalities and industry to improve water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, modernize aging infrastructure, and support long-term environmental stewardship. We combine technical excellence with strong relationships and thoughtful strategy to deliver meaningful, lasting impact.

Weโ€™re seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to help drive strategic growth across our Water Environment market. This role is focused on originating opportunities, leading complex pursuits, and strengthening client relationships that position GBA for sustained success.

What Youโ€™ll Do

As a Senior Business Development Manager, youโ€™ll:

  • Originate and advance high-value opportunities across municipal, public utility, and industrial water markets.
  • Lead capture planning and pursuit strategies for complex water, wastewater, collection, distribution, and stormwater projects.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with municipal leaders, utility directors, and industrial clients.
  • Develop client-specific growth strategies aligned with capital improvement programs (CIPs), funding cycles, and regulatory drivers.
  • Guide Go/No-Go decisions, including opportunity qualification, risk assessment, and pursuit investment strategies.
  • Lead cross-functional pursuit teams, coordinating technical staff and marketing resources to position GBA competitively.
  • Maintain and manage a strategic pipeline in CRM to support visibility, forecasting, and long-term planning.
  • Represent GBA at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to strengthen market presence and brand awareness.
  • Mentor and support seller-doers in business development, pursuit strategy, and relationship development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring
  • Experience working with municipal and public utility clients, as well as industrial water markets.
  • Strong understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure, funding mechanisms, and procurement processes.
  • Proven ability to develop trusted, long-term relationships with decision-makers.
  • Experience leading complex pursuits and aligning multidisciplinary teams around a cohesive strategy.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think long-term about market positioning and growth.
  • Comfort operating with autonomy while collaborating closely across markets, disciplines, and leadership teams.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.

Why This Role Matters

In this role, youโ€™ll play a critical part in advancing GBAโ€™s position as a trusted partner in the Water Environment market. Your work will directly influence pipeline growth, client relationships, and market expansionโ€”helping communities address aging infrastructure, regulatory demands, and long-term water challenges.

Why Youโ€™ll Love Working Here

At GBA, youโ€™ll be part of a team that values integrity, collaboration, and innovation. We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you and your family, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life, accident, and disability coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and wellness initiatives
  • Paid company holidays, floating holidays, and flexible time off
  • Opportunities for professional growth, leadership development, and advancement

Join Our Team

If youโ€™re a strategic business development leader who enjoys building relationships, shaping pursuit strategy, and driving meaningful growth, weโ€™d love to hear from you.
