Overview

We’re looking for an engineering leader ready to shape the future of our industrial businesses! Bring your ABET-accredited engineering degree, expertise in industrial facility design (Power, O&G, or Mining), and a sharp eye for engineering proposals and project execution. Experience overseeing engineering or construction contractors, especially from the Owner’s side is a big plus.

Location and Travel Details: This is a remote role and can be based anywhere in the United States. Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time.

Responsibilities

Pre-Award Functions 

  • Support business development with presentations and proposals for potential clients. 
  • Attend meetings/functions to enhance relationships and identify clients.   
  • Coordinate efforts during the proposal phase to project and RFP requirements. 
  • Identify gaps or areas for improvement prior to project execution  

Project Development/Execution 

  • Assist with bids, specifications, drawings and the contract to proactively solve potential issues. 
  • Develop and monitor schedules to ensure a timely completion of the project. 
  • Submit Changes to client in a timely fashion. 
  • Use Project Status reports to communicate internally on the financial flow of the project.
  • Ensures that invoices are submitted timely to clients. 
  • Identify and negotiate time extensions as needed with the client. 
  • Contact vendors to obtain additional subcontractor bids     
  • Conduct/attend project meetings/huddles as needed to communicate project requirements 
  • Develop and maintain a safety plan throughout the project. 

Project Knowledge  

  • Review contract requirements thoroughly and asks follow-up questions for projec.t
  • Has a thorough understanding of project execution for EPC projects.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the scope and schedule for the project.  
  • Develops RFI's and clarifications and ensure timely responses.  
  • Consistently follows up on submitted bids and budgets with Design Engineer and/or Construction Manager to close issues.
  • Review drawings with Project Management team and highlight areas of concern
  • Review job cost with Project Management team and highlight any subs/material vendors that still need to be awarded  
  • Seeks & qualifies new Design Engineering subcontractors (license, insurance, registrations, etc.) 
  • Develop creative solutions to problems.  
  • Identify creative ways to deliver additional profit if possible.
  • Complete all activities with a pride of ownership “as if it was your name on the door.”  
  • Participate in company-wide events, such as meetings, socials, etc.  
  • Demonstrate adherence to and performance in keeping with the goals of MasTec Industrial.
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 12+ years of experience as a PM on industrial projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be self-motivated & punctual.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations
  • Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings on-site
  • Able to manage multiple tasks with strong follow-up skills; professional in appearance and speech
  • Experience with CAD and/or BIM software
  • Strong organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • High professionalism and work ethic
  • Proficient in planning and scheduling using P6, Microsoft Project, or similar software
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, VP Command
  • Lead by example in safe behavior
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and eager to learn
  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • Committed to delivering high-quality, on-budget, on-schedule technical work
  • Able to communicate across disciplines to support technical quality

HOURS: This position is a standard full-time position, with general business 40-hour operating schedule, Monday-Friday.
