About the Role:

Caring Network is seeking a full-time Development Assistant to support the Development Team and VP of Development by coordinating operations, strengthening donor relationships, and supporting fundraising initiatives and events. Responsible for performing various administrative and project management duties critical to the success of the department. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with exceptional communication and organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.


Responsibilities Include:

Development Team Support

  • Manage and prioritize the VP of Development's competing initiatives, communications, and operational needs with a high degree of independence, discretion, and judgment
  • Take minutes at team meetings
  • Coordinate cross-functional Development Team projects and organizational initiatives, proactively tracking deadlines, deliverables, and follow-up actions to ensure successful execution
  • Report to the VP Development regularly on progress and goals met
  • Serve as a strategic liaison between the VP of Development and internal/external stakeholders, donors, leadership and other staff, ensuring timely follow-up and communication on sensitive matters
  • Administer business partner program; revise Business Partner Chart annually, keep names of business partners on our website current
  • Perform office support, such as word processing, spreadsheet creation and manipulation, reports, emails, scheduling, ordering supplies, data entry and other duties as assigned by the VP of Development
  • Schedule, train, and work with volunteers to help with Development Team needs
  • Upload notes and documents from staff and volunteers into donor database
  • Produce Custom Impact Reports for the Development Team
  • Set up Quarterly Roadmaps for Development Team
  • Produce Monthly Expense Reports
  • Update and distribute receipt inserts

Donor Relations

  • Handle confidential donor, financial, and organizational information with discretion while representing the VP of Development professionally in meetings, donor interactions, and external events
  • Call donors to invite to events, thank, inform of upcoming mailings, etc.
  • Write and send personal notes of thanks to donors
  • Set up and organize lists for donor communications
  • Ensure new pledges are added to database
  • Check accuracy of pledges and update quarterly; prepare and send pledge reminder letters
  • Arrange and send mementos to donors and prospects
  • Maintain the general email list for portfolio donors, ensuring both members of household are subscribed

Events

  • Set up Vision Tour events from beginning to end
  • Attend and support major fundraising events as needed


Candidate Requirements:

  • A committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and is a participant in a local church
  • Maintains a consistent life-affirming philosophy and would never refer or advise a woman to have an abortion
  • Agrees with and is willing to uphold Caring Network's Statements of Faith and Principle and Core Values
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to the mission and strategy of Caring Network
  • Bachelor's degree required, with at least 3-5 years of experience supporting executive level leaders.
  • Exceptional time-management and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects at once
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills; comfortable and professional speaking with donors in person and on the phone
  • Knowledge of pro-life issues and comfort in discussing them
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient with databases, Microsoft 365, and preparing and executing mail merges
  • Familiarity with fundraising software (CRM) - Virtuous preferred
  • Experience working with volunteers is desirable
  • Reliable transportation is required to work from the Glen Ellyn office and attend occasional evening and weekend events at off-site locations
