Job description

Position Purpose

We are seeking a highly organized, execution-focused Project Coordinator to support strategic enterprise initiatives at Capital Bank, covering our Commercial Bank, Credit Card and Mortgage divisions. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in structured project environments, excels at stakeholder coordination, and can manage multiple priorities across technology, operations, compliance, and business teams.

The Project Coordinator will partner closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Technology and Business teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders to ensure projects remain on track, risks are managed proactively, and governance standards are maintained. The ideal candidate has experience supporting large-scale banking or financial services initiatives and understands the importance of regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and operational discipline.

As part of the technology team, the Project Coordinator role is critical to ensure consistent project delivery, transparent communication, accurate reporting, and strong organizational coordination across the Project Management Office (PMO) project portfolio

Position Responsibilities

  • Project Coordination & Execution
    Support multiple concurrent enterprise projects across business and technology teams, either independently or supporting a Project Manager.
    Coordinate project schedules, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and action items.
    Maintain detailed project plans, risk and issues logs, status reports, and governance documentation.
    TrackExperience supporting project lifecycle activities including requirements coordination, testing coordination (UAT support), IT change management tracking, implementation readiness, and post-implementation follow-up project progress and escalate risks or delays to Project Managers and leadership.
    Facilitate project meetings, working sessions, steering committee preparation, and follow-up activities.
    Ensure accountability for action items and deliverables across cross-functional teams
  • PMO Governance & Reporting
    Prepare executive-ready status reporting and dashboard updates.
    Maintain project documentation repositories and ensure compliance with PMO standards.
    Support portfolio reporting, resource tracking, and project financial coordination.

  • Stakeholder Coordination
    Serve as a central coordination point between business, technology teams, vendors, compliance, risk, and operations.

    Build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Operational & Administrative Support
    Schedule meetings, maintain agendas, document meeting minutes, and distribute follow-up actions while leveraging AI.
    Coordinate testing activities, implementation planning, and deployment readiness tasks.
    Assist with vendor coordination and deliverable tracking.
    Support resource onboarding, access coordination, and operational readiness activities.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of project coordination or PMO support experience.
  • Experience supporting projects within banking, financial services, fintech, or highly regulated industries.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Asana, Workfront, Jira, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Confluence, and SharePoint.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP, CAPM, Scrum, or related project management certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting enterprise technology or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with governance, risk, compliance, audit, or regulatory-driven projects
  • Banking operations or financial systems experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience preparing executive-level reporting and presentations
  • Experience supporting project lifecycle activities including requirements coordination, testing coordination (UAT support), IT change management tracking, implementation readiness, and post-implementation follow-up
  • Strong understanding of Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid delivery methodologies, PMO governance standards, risk and issue management processes, and financial services regulatory environments.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with enterprise project management and collaboration tools, including one or more of the following: Asana, Workfront, Jira, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Confluence, and SharePoint
  • Ability to maintain and manage Project schedules, risk and issues logs, Action item trackers, Dependency trackers, Resource plans, Governance documentation, Executive dashboards, and reporting

Compensation

  • Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 annually. Final determination of where you are at in the salary range is based on numerous factors such as geographical location, relevant experience, skill set, education, and ability to meet qualifications within the job description. 
  • Additional Compensation: This role will include a yearly annual target bonus based on individual performance.

Working Arrangements

  • This is a hybrid role expected to work in office on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. You will be able to work remotely on Wednesday. This person will ideally sit out of our Rockville, MD headquarters location.
