Project Coordinator Project Manager information

How do project coordinators and project managers typically collaborate within a project team?

Project Coordinators and Project Managers work closely together to ensure projects run smoothly and meet deadlines. While the Project Manager is responsible for overall project planning, decision-making, and stakeholder communication, the Project Coordinator typically handles day-to-day logistics, schedules meetings, tracks progress, and manages documentation. This collaboration allows the Project Manager to focus on strategic oversight while relying on the Coordinator for operational support, making effective communication and teamwork essential for project success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a project coordinator or project manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Project Coordinator or Project Manager, you need strong organizational skills, project management knowledge, and typically a relevant degree or certification such as PMP or CAPM. Familiarity with project management software like Microsoft Project, Asana, or Trello is important for tracking tasks, timelines, and budgets. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities help you coordinate teams and manage stakeholder expectations effectively. These skills ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and with satisfactory team collaboration.

Is a project coordinator a high paying job?

A project coordinator's salary varies by industry and experience but is generally considered an entry- to mid-level position with moderate pay. It is typically lower than project manager roles, which tend to have higher salaries due to increased responsibilities and required skills such as scheduling and stakeholder communication.

Is a project coordinator or project manager higher?

A project manager is generally considered higher in the project hierarchy than a project coordinator. The project manager oversees the entire project, makes strategic decisions, and manages the project team, while the project coordinator supports the project by handling administrative tasks and coordinating activities. Certifications like PMP or CAPM can help distinguish levels of responsibility and expertise in these roles.

Is a project coordinator the same as a project manager?

A project coordinator and a project manager are different roles; a project manager oversees the entire project, including planning, execution, and delivery, while a project coordinator supports the project by handling administrative tasks and coordinating team activities. Project managers typically have more responsibility, authority, and require certifications like PMP, whereas coordinators focus on supporting roles and communication within the project team.

What is the role of a project coordinator project manager?

A project coordinator project manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects by coordinating teams, managing schedules, and ensuring project goals are met. They often use tools like Gantt charts and project management software and may hold certifications such as PMP or CAPM to facilitate effective project delivery.

Job description

Project Coordinator / Assistant to the Project Manager

Industrial Roofing Company – Lewiston, Maine

Build Your Career in Construction — Not Just Your Resume

Industrial Roofing Company (IRC) is looking for a highly organized, motivated Project Coordinator / Assistant to the Project Manager to join our project management team.

This isn't a role where you'll spend your day simply scheduling meetings and pushing paperwork. You'll work directly with Project Managers, field teams, customers, vendors, and subcontractors to help keep commercial construction projects organized, moving, and successful.

If you're someone who likes solving problems, keeping things on track, communicating with people, and seeing the results of your work in the real world, this could be a great next step in your career.

What You'll Do

As a Project Coordinator, you'll be an important part of the team responsible for taking projects from award through completion. Your responsibilities will include:

· Supporting Project Managers with multiple active commercial roofing and construction projects

· Coordinating project documentation, schedules, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and closeout requirements

· Communicating with customers, vendors, subcontractors, field personnel, and internal departments

· Tracking project deadlines and following up to make sure critical items don't fall through the cracks

· Assisting with material procurement and project logistics

· Maintaining accurate project files and documentation

· Helping identify and resolve project issues before they become bigger problems

· Supporting the financial and administrative side of projects

· Learning the operational and technical aspects of commercial roofing and construction

Who We're Looking For

We're less interested in finding someone who checks every box and more interested in finding someone with the right aptitude, work ethic, and drive to learn.

You'll likely be successful here if you:

· Are exceptionally organized and detail-oriented

· Communicate clearly and professionally

· Can manage multiple priorities without losing track of the details

· Take ownership instead of waiting to be told what to do next

· Are comfortable following up and holding others accountable for information

· Enjoy solving problems

· Work well in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change

· Are comfortable learning construction terminology, processes, and systems

· Have strong computer skills

· Want an opportunity to grow rather than simply find your next job

Construction or project coordination experience is helpful, but commercial roofing experience is not required.

Why IRC?

IRC has been in business for more than 80 years, and we've built our reputation by investing in our employees as much as we invest in our customers.

We believe in:

Commitment to Employees | Safety | Customer Focus | Integrity | Strong Work Ethic

At IRC, you'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced construction professionals, develop real project management skills, and build a long-term career.

For the right person, the Project Coordinator position can be a pathway toward increased project responsibility and future advancement within project management.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly compensation $26-$30 BOE
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Paid time off
  • Training and professional development
  • Exposure to large-scale commercial construction projects
  • A stable, established company with more than eight decades in business
  • Opportunities for continued growth and advancement

Ready for More Responsibility?

If you're organized, driven, and ready to become an important part of a commercial construction project team, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today and build your future with Industrial Roofing Company.
