Job description

Description We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the successful execution of Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects. The APM will assist senior project managers on complex initiatives and independently manage smaller, less complex projects. This role serves as a key liaison among clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring that project objectives are met within defined scope, schedule, and budget parameters. The APM will maintain document control, manage databases and coordinate and track project activities and communications to ensure project goals are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and budget parameters. Key Responsibilities
  • Support engineering disciplines and global practice teams in the execution of Design-only and/or Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects.
  • Assist in the development of Request for Proposal (RFP) packages, bid / proposal responses, manage the bid and selection process, and contribute to the creation of detailed scopes of work for downstream contracts.
  • Manage contractor submittals, requests for information (RFIs), supplemental design instructions, and site drawing logs.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with quality assurance, safety, environmental standards, and material management protocols.
  • Administer contract execution, including change order management, field change directives, invoice approvals, and schedule oversight.
  • Contribute to project controls efforts, including cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structure (WBS) development, project setup and closeout in accounting systems, and field progress tracking.
  • Prepare and maintain internal and external reports, including budget analyses, cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and project status updates for stakeholders.
  • Participate in project risk reviews and coordinate with the Legal Department as necessary.
  • Ensure proper closeout of all project and contract documentation.
  • Adhere to Burns & McDonnell's safety programs, trainings, and policies, as well as promote and manage the Safety & Health performance of project team members and subcontractors.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project management or coordination.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand environment, including flexibility to work overtime when required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Primavera Contract Manager or similar change management software is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including clients, contractors, engineers, and designers.

Compensation
$100,000.00-170,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
