Job description


 

Summary

Equipment Operators are critical to project execution and ensuring GFL maintains its reputation for performance excellence. In your role, you will be part of a close-knit team reporting directly to the onsite Project Manager. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining various pieces of equipment at lagoon and/or field sites. At GFL, the most important commitment we will ever make is the safety of our people, our clients, and the environment. You will be expected to adhere to our safety program and work as a contributing member of the project team. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Safe operation of various heavy equipment, including dredges, lagoon pumps, tractors, field discs, polymer make-down units, diesel pumps and generators, set up and tear down of projects, directing trucks on land spreading fields, equipment repair and routine maintenance, safety of job sites, including reporting of any safety issues, transportation of equipment, maintaining a clean job site, and other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently; 

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting a minimum of 55lbs, standing for an extended period of time, working around water and at heights; 

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required - experience towing equipment an asset; 

  • Ability to operate farm and other heavy equipment with various attachments is an asset;

  • Ability to work long hours in all weather conditions; 

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 100% of the time away; 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 

  • Must adhere to the Fit for Duty Policy during employment.
