WORKING TITLE: Support Assistant
SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT: Cape Fear Elementary 21st CCLC After School Program
REPORTS TO: After School Program Director
WORK WEEK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday WORK HOURS 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
MONTHS/YR: 10
POSITION PURPOSE
To assist in the management and coordination of the day-to-day program activities of the 21st CCLC After School Program.
POSITION ANALYSIS
The Support Assistant is responsible for assisting in all program operations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must be flexible, resourceful, enthusiastic, energetic and willing to work a flexible schedule. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate's degree
  • Experience working with at-risk youth preferably in a school setting

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS None ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the planning, organizing and supervision of the day-to-day operation of the Afterschool Program at assigned site
  • Plan, prepare, and implement the weekly activities for afterschool program
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for the students
  • Keep the center well organized and arranged properly
  • Assist in maintaining student records including attendance and progress
  • Assist in maintaining current records
  • Work one-on-one with student participants as needed
  • Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and projects
  • Assist with identifying sources of support for students, their families, and other community members
  • Meet with the After School Coordinator on a frequent basis to assist in implementing the Site Plan
  • Assist in keeping an updated inventory of supplies, equipment and materials necessary to effectively carry out program activities
  • Encourage and recruit student, parent and community involvement in 21st CCLC activities
  • Maintain professional attitude and appearance, including phone etiquette and cooperating with other staff
  • Perform all other duties as assigned necessary for the successful operation of the 21st CCLC Afterschool Program
  • Consistently able to observe and respond to student's needs, emergencies, and/or conflicts that might occur in the classroom and / or common areas
  • Consistently able to supervise up to 15 students alone without supervision or support
  • Ensure accurate attendance is taken and that students are signed out daily
  • Consistently able to establish clear communications orally and in writing to students, parents, co-workers, and administration
  • Maintain confidential information about children, families, and staff

WORKING CONDITIONS PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to perform required project tasks independently
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work in office and a public school environment and come into direct contact with staff and students
