POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Superintendent is responsible for providing on-site leadership and management of all field activities throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the design, budget, and schedule. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gather and document daily quantities from Foreman and Subcontractors
  • Discuss daily activities and 3-week look ahead schedules with Project Managers and Project Engineers
  • Coordinate daily and weekly schedules with Foreman
  • Conduct routine site safety inspections to ensure project sites are kept clear of hazards and proper safety protocols are followed
  • Review JHA's and work plans with Project Manager and Foreman
  • Coordinate manpower and equipment needs with Trade Superintendents
  • Visit and maintain relationships with owners' representatives and ensure proper notification is given for inspections
  • Assist Project Managers and Project Engineers with daily productions and costs
  • Coordinate and track subcontractor daily activities, manpower, and safety
  • Ensure Foreman are completing daily paperwork requires accurately
  • Schedule all project material needs through DCS Dispatch
  • Schedule all project equipment and manpower needs through Trade Superintendent
  • Take photos of project progress and send to PM/PE to be saved in appropriate project folder
  • Verify SWPPP and Dust needs are completed with accuracy
  • Coordinate all new hires, crew needs, disciplinary actions, and terminations with Trade Superintendent and Field Operations Manager
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings when assigned to a new project
  • Assist PM/PEs with change orders for new or changes in scope of work
  • Coordinate and maintain all AZ 811 (Bluestake) utility locates
  • Assist PM/PEs with subcontractor pre-con meetings
  • Responsible for ensuring projects are following company safety policies and OSHA safety standards
  • Prepare and submit all reports such as theft, utility hits and incidents
  • Inventory all shipments prior to unloading from supplier
  • Inventory and document all rental equipment before it is returned (inspect and document prior to taking possession

REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively through all mediums to staff, management, peers, clients, business partners
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to act confidently and decisively
  • Team leader with excellent communication skills and ability to handle and resolve conflicts effectively
  • Strong ability to multitask and prioritize workload efficiently
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college, technical school, or university in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent experience in a similar construction position
  • A minimum of 7 years of construction related experience with a general contractor performing underground wet utility installation, concrete, and/or grading and paving work. 
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Possess a thorough understanding or job cost reports
  • Self-perform construction management experience
  • Knowledge of CPM Project Scheduling, MS Office Suite, including MS Project
  • Knowledge of crew configurations and labor productions
  • Understanding of MAG, MCDOT, ADOT, MCAQD, ADEQ and Greater Phoenix Municipal Standards
  • Knowledge of Arizona Heavy Civil market
  • Understanding of Bluestake
