Job Summary

Taurus Staffing is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented HVAC Project Accountant / Bookkeeper to manage our daily financial operations. In this role, you will be responsible for full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll, and job-cost tracking specific to our heating, ventilation, and air conditioning projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in construction or trade accounting, excellent data-entry skills, and an understanding of project-based financial tracking.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC & Project Accounting:

  • Job Costing & Data Entry: Accurately enter and track project-specific expenses, equipment purchases, subcontractor invoices, and labor costs to monitor individual job profitability.
  • Sales Orders & Progress Billing: Process sales orders and manage progress billing (including AIA billing if applicable) for residential or commercial HVAC projects.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Code and process vendor bills (parts, equipment, suppliers), reconcile vendor statements, issue client invoices, and manage collections.
  • Reconciliations: Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliation data entry, ensuring all field and office expenses match internal financial records.
  • Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end payroll data entry for technicians and office staff, verifying billable hours, service tracking, and tax compliance.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist with month-end closing procedures and prepare financial reports to help leadership evaluate company and project performance.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Proven experience working as a Bookkeeper, Accountant, or Project Accountant, ideally within the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or construction trades.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or industry-specific ERP software) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with job costing practices and tracking material/labor expenses by project.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail during heavy data entry.
