Collins Aerospace is looking for a qualified Program Manager to join its Airports business within its Avionics strategic business unit.
We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to serve as a key representative of our organization to customers. This role is responsible for overseeing all phases of assigned programs-from inception to completion-and ensuring alignment with customer specifications and company objectives. The Program Manager leads cross-functional teams, manages the full contract lifecycle, and is accountable for financial, schedule, and performance outcomes. This includes driving strategic planning efforts, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring successful program execution while meeting profitability targets. The ideal candidate is a driven, accountable, results-focused leader who excels in fast-paced environments. We are seeking someone with strong business acumen, program management expertise, and collaborative leadership style to effectively guide teams and manage customer expectations. The ability to work independently, communicate clearly with leadership, and solve complex problems proactively are essential to success in this position. The preferred candidate will be skilled in stakeholder influence, prioritization, P&L management, and committed to continuous improvement and strategic growth.
This is an onsite role and can sit at one of the following locations: Annapolis, MD; Cedar Rapids, IA; or Charlotte, NC.
What You Will Do
  • Lead and manage multiple small to medium-sized projects or a few complex programs, ensuring adherence to program scope, budgets, and timelines.
  • Oversee pursuit to order capture of new and existing business opportunities including but not limited to leading integrated team of cross-functional resources for bid and proposal submissions, commercial modeling and scenario planning to determine pricing strategy for existing and new contracts, lead customer contract negotiations as the business decision maker on key terms and conditions ensuring business objectives and compliance requirements are adhered.
  • Actively participate in P&L forecasting, annual and long-range financial planning and program review meetings as requested by leadership.
  • Accountable for meeting business case commitments, financial plans & forecasts and value stream goals. The ability to develop, manage and deliver financial forecasts and ensure committed forecast and plan are achieved with strong business management and leadership.
  • Monitor program strategy implementation and contribute to long-term planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary customer interface, building strong relationships and ensuring program requirements are clearly defined and met.
  • Maintain and update program plans, schedules, budgets, and performance targets to meet business objectives.
  • Drive accountability across internal teams and vendors, ensuring alignment with program goals.
  • Manage and report on program Profit & Loss, ensuring profitability targets are achieved.
  • Identify and mitigate program risks; propose and implement solutions related to resources, scope changes, and customer feedback.
  • Serve as the primary business point of contact for contract negotiations and manage contract changes, proposals, business plans, and compliance efforts.
  • Lead, guide, and support a team of professionals-potentially serving as a people leader-by managing day-to-day work scope, performance, and development, while providing flexibility in how objectives are achieved.
  • Support new business development efforts and help shape value stream strategies for program growth.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, occasionally on short notice.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a University Degree (preferably in business administration, project management, or related field) or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project or program management.
  • Experience with change and risk management principles & practices.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office 365, MS Project, and/or Smartsheet.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • 5+ years of program management experience, with demonstrated P&L acumen.
  • Prior experience in leading proposal development efforts, contract negotiations and/or commercial management.
  • Prior experience providing indirect or matrixed leadership.
  • MBA or relevant master's degree.
  • Prior experience in Airports, Aviation, or the Travel industry.
  • Fluency in Spanish language preferred.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
