Job description

Job Summary
The Programs Manager should be motivated, friendly, open-minded and environmentally conscience. The Programs Manager will oversee all aspects of non-SAM Soccer internal programming, including adult soccer leagues, adult basketball, youth basketball, flag football, birthday parties, internal camps, and external camps. As a member of the SoccerPlex team, this individual is responsible for front line customer service via phone, email, and with in-person visitors to the facility. This is an in-office position.
Responsibilities
Adult Soccer League Oversight

  • Supervise the adult league manager and onsite staff for Adult Soccer League games
  • Assist Adult League Manager with administrative tasks of league management including registration, scheduling, staffing, and conflict disputes
  • Assist in the generation of the annual Adult League budget and budget management of the league throughout the year.
  • Assist the Marketing Manager in creation and execution of marketing plan to recruit participants for the league
  • Assist in the ordering, inventorying, and maintaining equipment required for the league including, but not limited to, uniforms, balls, cones, pinnies, field equipment, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Adult Basketball League Management
  • Oversee all aspects of the league and provide supervision of onsite staff for Adult Basketball League games
  • Manage all administrative tasks of league management including registration, scheduling, staffing, and conflict disputes
  • Assist in the generation of the annual Adult Basketball League budget and budget management of the league throughout the year.
  • Assist the Marketing Manager in creation and execution of marketing plan to recruit participants for the league
  • Develop annual basketball league budget
  • Oversee the ordering, inventorying, and maintaining equipment required for the league including, but not limited to, uniforms, balls, cones, pinnies, field equipment, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Camp Management
  • Develop camp curriculum based on ages and abilities of campers
  • Hire, supervise and train camp staff members to plan and coordinate daily camp activities based on the schedule and curriculum for the day.
  • Complete all necessary permits, licenses, plans and other requirements of federal, state, and local governments and agencies with jurisdiction over youth camps
  • Develop annual camp budget
  • Monitoring campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents.
  • Oversee the ordering, maintaining, and ensuring proper use of camp facilities and equipment by camp staff.
  • Reporting and recording details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to parents and managing any disciplinary actions
  • Communicating with parents and answering questions about the camp.
  • Leading camp staff meetings.
  • Coordinate with camp partners for joint camp offerings to ensure proper staffing, supervision of campers, communications, and coordination of camper movements
  • Develop and implement a communication plan for all internal camps
  • Communicate, contract, and schedule external camps with outside organization wishing to utilize SoccerPlex facilities for camps not managed by the SoccerPlex.
  • Assist the Marketing Manager in creation and execution of marketing plan to recruit participants for the camps
  • Other duties as assigned

Program Development
  • Develop new camps, leagues, and program offerings to meet the needs of the community as well as following local, regional, and national trends.
  • Develop operating budgets for proposed new programs
  • Assist the Marketing Manager in creation and execution of marketing plan to recruit participants for the new programs
  • Hire, supervise and train part-time staff members to assist with program and league management
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Birthday Party Program Management
  • Plan, coordinate, schedule and manage all birthday party events
  • Work with Marketing Manager to develop a marketing campaign to advertise the Birthday Party Program
  • Schedule and supervise Birthday Party staff, including Party Captains, Party Helpers, and janitorial staff
  • Work with food vendors to provide menu options for parties
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding space needs
  • Develop birthday party annual budget

Customer Service:
  • Front line customer service at the front desk of the Adventist HealthCare Fieldhouse.
  • Assisting customers with questions about programs and events occurring at the facility
  • Answering incoming calls, answering questions accordingly, and direct to specific personnel as needed
  • Use Point of Sale system to process payments for merchandise, food and beverage, programs, and services
  • Other duties as assigned

Administration
  • Assist Finance Manager with general bookkeeping
  • Coordinate facility scheduling needs across departments
  • Assist various departments with projects
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Basic knowledge about youth and adult sports and particularly the soccer community in the United States
  • Superior oral and written communications skills
  • Effective organizational skills for managing multiple tasks
  • Working knowledge about Microsoft Office Suite, VoIP Phone Systems, and Point of Sales systems
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALITIESWorking knowledge of LeagueApps and Square software
Positive attitude and personality
Ability to work independently and in a team environment, self-starter, and highly motivated
Spanish Proficiency Preferred
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in varying climates including extreme cold and heat
  • Ability to work in varying physical positions including standing, kneeling, seated, at height and the use of assistance equipment such ladders, lifts, and motor vehicles
  • Reliable transportation with a valid drivers licenses
  • Employment contingent upon successful completion of a background check

Salary and Benefits

About Maryland SoccerPlexMaryland SoccerPlex is on the northwest side of Washington, DC in Germantown, Maryland. The park is 162 acres and includes 24 full side soccer fields: 16 native soil tournament fields (8 Kentucky bluegrass/ 5 Patriot Bermudagrass), 7 sand-capped Tahoma 32 bermudagrass fields, 3 synthetic fields, and 2014 STMA Professional Soccer Field of the Year winner, SoccerPlex Stadium (fiber sand w/ Tahoma 32 Bermudagrass).
