The Director - Management Accounting is responsible for the development, implementation, and effective integration of the management accounting operations of the Canada manufacturing plants. The Director - Management Accounting oversees the accounting operations of the manufacturing costs including budgeting and manufacturing results analysis. The Director - Management Accounting acts as the financial business partner for the Manufacturing Vice President and the team by providing accurate and relevant financial information to drive and improve financial results. The Director - Management Accounting manages the team of Plant Controllers located at each manufacturing plant.


Your role in achieving results:


  • Support the Vice President, Manufacturing, and the leadership teams across 10 manufacturing plants in operational and financial decision-making.
  • In charge of explaining monthly results and building the necessary reports.
  • Provide support to Operations by reporting key performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain budgeting and results analysis programs.
  • Maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
  • Act as a liaison between Operations and the accounting system.
  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support for planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
  • Assist with year-end independent financial audit as needed.
  • Coordinate the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.
  • Standardize and optimize ways of working in his team - system & non-system activities
  • Establish and implement short-and long-range departmental goals, tactical plans, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Part of the month end closing process.
  • Support the standard costing revision at the plant level with the controllers' team and central Costing team.
  • Work closely with profitability category team to provide them the relevant information to manage profitability at the category level.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Responsible for employee relations including work direction of employees, hiring, training, performance reviews, administering policies and procedures, disciplinary action, and compensation recommendations.
    • Direct implementation of departmental objectives, goals and policies.
    • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Safety Protocol
    • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
    • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
    • Support safety policies and programs.

What we are looking for to deliver these results:


Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a business environment required.
  • Bilingual in French and English, spoken and written, required.

Certification/Licensure Required:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.

Skills Required:

  • High level of leadership skills including strategic thinking, fostering teamwork, cultivating relationships, and demonstrable experience leading teams through change.
