Associate Director of Community Programs

Allentown, PA | Full Time, Salary; Daily: 6pm - 7:30am | $45,000 - $55,000

This role oversees mission-driven programs serving individuals and families experiencing housing instability while ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and community engagement.

What is needed for this job as our Associate Director of Community Programs:
  • Associate degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field (preferred)
  • 2+ years of nonprofit experience, ideally serving individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including those with mental health and/or substance use disorders
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel between locations
  • Ability to obtain CPR/AED, First Aid, and NARCAN certifications before starting
  • Ability to successfully complete background checks
The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Associate Director of Community Programs:
  • Provide day-to-day operational leadership for the Warming Station program, ensuring efficient, high-quality service delivery
  • Directly supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate Warming Station team members to foster a high-performing, mission-driven culture
  • Oversee participant intake processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and equitable admissions while maintaining a welcoming environment
  • Maintain HMIS data integrity by ensuring accurate and timely data entry, conducting routine quality assurance reviews, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and agency reporting requirements
  • Ensure program operations remain compliant with organizational policies, contractual obligations, licensing requirements, and established procedures
  • Promote and maintain a safe, secure, and supportive environment for participants, staff, volunteers, and visitors
  • Oversee consistent implementation of program policies, participant expectations, and guest restrictions in a fair and respectful manner
  • Support talent acquisition efforts by assisting with the recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management of staff and volunteers
  • Serve as an on-call leader to respond to operational emergencies and critical incidents during evenings, weekends, holidays, and other nontraditional work hours as needed
  • Provide operational oversight for YMCA social service and housing initiatives, including the Allentown Warming Station and Bethlehem Housing programs
  • Maintain operational continuity by providing coverage for essential roles outside of regular work schedules when necessary
  • Develop and implement strategies that engage, motivate, and empower staff while driving program goals and organizational objectives
  • Oversee the receipt, documentation, and stewardship of program donations in accordance with organizational policies
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards related to cleanliness, workplace safety, health regulations, and facility maintenance
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership and community partners to support continuous program improvement, service excellence, and positive participant outcomes
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and objectives of the YMCA's Community Programs
