Job Duties and Responsibilities

The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs used in the manufacturing of precision components. The role requires expertise in the use of CAD/CAM software, particularly Mastercam and SolidWorks, along with experience with 3 & 5 axis milling, lathes, and Swiss turning machines. The CNC programmer is instrumental in collaborating with the Operations, Engineering and Business Development teams to ensure optimized process and tooling to ensure the highest quality products in the most efficient machine times.

  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for milling, turning, and multi-axis machines
  • Utilize Mastercam and Mazatrol software to generate toolpaths, simulate machining process, and ensure efficient production. Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds based on material and part requirements
  • Use SolidWorks to interpret, modify, and create 3D models and engineering drawings
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure manufacturability and process efficiency
  • Perform program prove-outs and make adjustments to improve cycle time and quality
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain program documentation, setup sheets, and revision control in compliance with our quality system requirements
  • Support New Business Development with machining times and tooling requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • CNC programing experience in a high mix manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Mastercam (2D, 3D, and multi-axis toolpath generation)
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks for CAD modeling and drawing interpretation
  • Deep understanding of CNC machining processes, including 3 & 5 axis milling, turning, Swiss turning, and manual machining processes (drill, tap, etc)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings
  • Experience with G-code programming and editing
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, materials and machining strategies
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree or technical certification in machining, manufacturing, or related field
  • 3+ years of production CNC programming experience
  • Experience with HAAS, Mazak, and Citizen a plus
