Job Description
The New York Times Advertising is hiring for a Programmatic Manager who will drive growth of NYT programmatic revenue. You will partner with our internal advertising teams and work with company leadership to support the ultimate goal of revenue growth.
About the Role
You will build programmatic data sources that increase revenue across the global NYT portfolio. Work with SSP partners and reporting platform vendors to ensure data is accurate and complete. You will be an internal expert on programmatic business trends, new technologies and best practices, and communicate them with sales and operations teams. Be a subject matter expert where you will manage projects and keep our team informed about how the industry is moving with regard to yield management and programmatic ad technology. This is a hybrid role, reporting to the VP Revenue Operations. You can typically expect to be in the office 3 days per week.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide weekly reporting to Advertising and Product leadership detailing Programmatic revenue tracking and insights.
  • Special focus on deploying and maintaining the best programmatic technology solutions by testing partner's header bidding, price rules, and deal capabilities.
  • Produce ongoing reporting to highlight revenue performance and areas of opportunity. Oversee end of month reporting for the global magazines programmatic operation, supporting end-of-month revenue reconciliation processes with our partners in Finance.
  • Be comfortable navigating matrixed business operations and combining data sets across time zones, devices, geos and inventory types.
  • Build internal partnerships as they relate to reporting on the programmatic line of business. Partner may include Finance, Billing, Revenue Operations, Programmatic Direct Support, and Sales.
  • Grow revenue by identifying opportunities, identifying issues using performance reporting data, and supporting the programmatic direct support team.
  • Partner with Business Analytics to provide accurate and frequent analysis of programmatic optimizations and opportunities.
  • Manage the daily programmatic platform management and operations, which include rule and deal optimizations, ad quality enforcement, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage our relationships with ad exchanges and supply side platforms (SSPs).
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Basic Qualifications:
  • B.A. or B.S. in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., math's, engineering, statistics, finance, and economics)
  • 3+ years experience with ad tech based programmatic advertising platforms or publisher side
  • 3+ years of experience in programmatic yield management
  • Knowledge of reporting on programmatic advertising business activities including running reporting in SSP platforms such as Magnite, Index Exchange, Google ADX, Triplelift and others.
  • High proficiency in excel (can write advanced macros) and can summarize and manipulate large volumes of data.
  • Experience with reporting and data visualization tools such as; Google Ad Manager, Adswizz, Salesforce, Tableau, DoubleVerify or Google Data Studio

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using Domo, Adomik, BigQuery, and SQL
  • Knowledgeable with ad tech landscape including survey, data collection, verification, viewability, real-time bidding, behavioral targeting, retargeting, cookie matching, and platforms beyond desktop (mobile, video, social)

Additional Compensation and Benefits
For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock. The annual base pay range for this role is between:
$110,000-$125,000 USD
