Hospitality Employees Advancement and Training (HEAT, Inc.) is a small nonprofit organization providing training for quality jobs in South Florida's vibrant and growing hospitality sector. We are seeking a Program Director who will help take our work and organization to the next level as we build new pathways to hospitality careers for underserved local communities. This is a highly collaborative role with an opportunity for growth.
HEAT, Inc. is located in Miami's Historic Overtown neighborhood and we work closely with local community leaders, the Community Redevelopment Agency, UNITE HERE Local 355 and major hospitality employers. This role is on-site and will require training-related travel.
We're looking for the right person to tackle these primary responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of HEAT's operations and programming in collaboration with HEAT, Inc.'s Board of Directors
  • Develop and manage effective relationships with formal and informal community networks, unions, employers, government, community and social services agencies
  • Set standards and implement organizational work plans to meet program objectives and deadlines
  • Lead staff by providing direction, coaching, ongoing feedback, and regular evaluation
  • Administer payroll
  • Identify grant opportunities and prepare grant applications to expand HEAT's funding capacity
  • Lead the development and implementation of outreach and recruitment efforts to targeted communities
  • Lead the organization's communications and public relations efforts
  • Ensure programmatic compliance in a highly regulated environment
  • Collaborate with board members on the organization's fiscal, programmatic and public reporting and compliance
  • Support HEAT, Inc.'s Board of Directors in maintaining effective budgeting, policy, reporting, compliance and governance procedures

Requirements
  • Genuine commitment and sensitivity to worker and community issues
  • Respect for economic and cultural diversity; experience leading diverse teams
  • High motivation and enthusiasm about HEAT's mission
  • 3+ years of significant leadership experience at a program and/or organization dedicated to workers' rights, labor, civil rights, or immigrant rights and advocacy.
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; comfort with public speaking
  • Experience managing public and private grants and meeting high standards of programmatic and fiscal compliance preferred
  • Experience with Quickbooks and ADP or similar payroll and human resource software preferred
  • Ability to travel for training
