Job Purpose:

The Direct Support Professional is responsible for providing comprehensive personal care, guidance, and support to clients according to their specific needs. This position is also responsible for promoting client independence through appropriate role modeling, administering client's programs and goals, and ensuring client’s personal needs are satisfied in a safe manner.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients in behavioral and personal care services
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living according to clients' unique care plans
  • Accompany clients on recreation and leisure activities
  • Implement clients' plans as written
  • Increase clients' independence and involvement in their community
  • Ability to understand and implement a variety of Behavior Support Plans and Individual Service Plans
  • Ability to track and chart data on a daily basis in compliance with company expectations
  • Ability to attend, assist, and engage in team meetings as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a background check with the MN Department of Human Services
  • General computer skills and knowledge
  • Reliable transportation insured in the state of Minnesota
  • Proof of insurance and current driver's license
  • Clear driving record (No DUI/DWI convictions in the past 5 years)
  • Fluency in reading, speaking, and writing in the English language
  • Dynamic communication skills
  • Working cell phone with internet access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals of varying needs and diagnoses
  • CPR and First Aid certification
