Position Information
Job Title AE Academic Assistant Job Description
The Academic Assistant must work under the daily supervision of a qualified instructor or program director. The Academic Assistant may provide one-on-one instruction at the discretion of the instructor or program director. The Academic Assistant may not develop or determine curricula or provide classroom and/or group instruction.
Job Duties
1. Adheres to all MGCCC policies and procedures.
2. Follows the directions of the instructor or program director and works as an effective member of the instructional team to ensure the success of all students.
3. Carries out the preparation of instructional materials under the direction of the instructor.
4. Monitors and observes student behaviors and shares observations with the instructor.
5. Assists instructor in providing individual support for students and in checking for understanding of instructional materials.
6. Organizes, uses, and maintains supplies, materials, and equipment.
7. Assists in providing non-instructional support for students.
8. Understands community resources and discusses possible referrals with the instructor.
9. Assists with intake, orientation and assessment of students.
10. Assists instructor in implementing, recording, and monitoring Student Success Plan.
11. Assists instructor in administering, scoring, and evaluating diagnostic tests.
12. Assists instructor in preparing student folders and maintaining records of student progress.
13. Assists instructor in collecting data for reports.
14. Understands and uses the state approved data system.
15. Maintains a professional attitude toward students and college personnel.
16. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Minimum of Associate's degree from an institution of higher education.
(M2)
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
(M3)
Experience in an educational setting.
(M4) Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Bachelor's degree in Business, education, or computer related field.
(D2) Community college experience and/or SCT Banner experience.
(D3) Experience teaching High School Equivalency/Basic Skills.
