Job Title: Deli Assistant Department Manager - PM 

Reports to: Deli Department Manager

As a Deli Assistant Department Manager, you’ll play an essential role in guiding your team, supporting your department’s goals, and ensuring that guests have an exceptional shopping experience.  


What You’ll Do: 

As a Deli Assistant Department Manager - PM at Festival Foods, your responsibilities will include: 

  • Leadership Support: Assist the Deli Department Manager in achieving labor goals and contribute to departmental gross profit objectives, focusing on shrink control and efficient operations. 
  • Team Development: Lead, coach, and reinforce Festival culture, guest service, and performance expectations. Train and develop associates, ensuring high retention rates and consistent performance. 
  • Guest Experience: Provide outstanding customer service, resolve guest concerns, and live the boomerang principle by ensuring a memorable and positive experience for all. 
  • Operational Excellence: Maintain inventory levels, ensure correct pricing, and manage special orders. Take action on sales floor and back-stock conditions, addressing any areas of opportunity. 
  • Collaboration: Work with the Deli Department Manager on performance reviews, coaching sessions, and store sales. Assist in interviewing and hiring new associates. 
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure safety standards are upheld and that all necessary food safety logs and procedures are followed. 
  • Support & Training: Provide consistent feedback, support, and additional training to associates after their initial 30, 60, and 90 days of hire. 
  • Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences. 
  • Support the Team: Other duties as assigned. 

What We’re Looking For: 

To succeed as a Festival Foods Deli Assistant Department Manager - PM, you should have: 

  • Leadership Skills: Experience in a supervisory role with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the retail food business, merchandising, and perishable department operations, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively deal with both associates and guests. 
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of all safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on equipment such as slicers, fryers, ovens, and more. 
  • Food Safety Certification: ServeSafe certification (Festival will pay for certification if not already certified). 
  • Experience: At least 6 months of experience in a Counter Lead or Night Lead position.
