Agile - Release Train Engineer (RTE) (Experienced and Senior)

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a highly motivated Agile - Release Train Engineer (RTE) (Experienced and Senior) to become part of a large Air Dominance Division Mission Systems Software team using Agile in Berkeley, MO.

This position will lead and/or support an agile organization to implement new software capabilities within the platform as defined by a capability roadmap. The organization is responsible for the full lifecycle of software development including requirements, design, implementation, and testing for mission systems.

The agile leader will be a servant leader and coach who oversees and optimizes the flow of value on the program using various tools including Jira and Confluence. The responsibilities of this position include: facilitating workshops as needed, escalate impediments, manage risk, help ensure value delivery, and drive relentless improvement. This leader will also coach leaders and teams in new processes and mindsets and will help sustain and relentlessly improve the Agile execution on the program.

The candidate must have a solid grasp of how to scale Lean and Agile practices, and understand the unique opportunities and challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large organization with multiple stakeholders.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including: Experienced and Senior Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coaches' leaders and teams in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets

  • Drives relentless improvement and assess the agility level of the organization and help them improve

  • Fosters preparation of Vision, Objectives and Program Backlogs

  • Ensures backlogs are managed in accordance with defined standards

  • Tracks the execution of features and capabilities

  • Facilitates roadmap development

  • Supports inter- and intra-team dependency mapping

  • Prepares for and facilitates quarterly planning and execution of the plan

  • Encourages cross-functional collaboration across the organization

  • Works with Product Management, Product Owners, Scrum Masters and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment

  • Help manage risks and dependencies

  • Escalate and track impediments

  • Ensure standards are established and followed

  • Monitor and improve metrics to track and improve the flow of value

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start)

  • 2+ years of experience with Scaled Agile Framework or Agile Methodologies

  • 2+ years of experience with Agile delivery and metrics

  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership role

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3 / Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work

  • experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Level 4 / Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 9+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 13+ years of directly related work experience OR 17+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Agile/SAFe training and/or certification, for example:

    • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC)

    • SAFe Release Train Engineer Certification (RTE)

    • SAFe Scrum Master (SSM)

    • Project Management Institute- Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)

  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence

  • Critical thinking skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
