Help Shape the Future of Safety at AFL
At AFL, we're building more than networks - we're helping connect communities, businesses, and people across Canada.
Our teams deliver the critical infrastructure that keeps people connected, businesses running, and communities moving forward. Behind everything we do is a commitment to ensuring every employee returns home safely every day.
We're seeking an experienced EHS Program Manager to help lead that commitment.
In this role, you'll partner with leaders across the organization to strengthen safety performance, drive continuous improvement, and advance programs that support safe, compliant, and high-performing operations across Canada.
If you're passionate about continuous improvement, risk reduction, and building a strong safety culture, we'd love to hear from you.
At AFL, people are central to the company’s success. The culture emphasizes collaboration, diversity and inclusion, integrity, accountability, learning, and career growth, with opportunities to contribute across engineering, field operations, manufacturing, and corporate functions.

This role supports the safe, compliant, and effective operation of workplace safety initiatives, including hazard identification, risk mitigation, incident prevention, and regulatory compliance.
This position helps ensure strong EHS program control, reliable safety practices, effective training and reporting, and continuous improvement in workplace safety performance that support business continuity and operational excellence. The EHS Program Manager acts as a trusted partner to operational and leadership teams, balancing day-to-day program oversight with strategic planning for risk reduction, compliance, and safety culture
Key Responsibilities:

- Drive continuous improvement of safety programs, procedures, training, and reporting practices.
- Partner with operational leaders to identify risks, implement solutions, and strengthen safety performance.
- Support compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety legislation and standards.
- Enhance EHS reporting and performance measurement through meaningful KPIs and analytics.
- Advance digital learning and training solutions that improve accessibility, consistency, and engagement.
- Contribute to a culture where safety, accountability, and continuous improvement are embedded in everything we do.
What You'll Bring
You are a collaborative and proactive safety professional who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and driving meaningful change.
You'll be successful in this role if you have:
- 5-7 years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and improving EHS programs.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, risk management principles, regulatory compliance, and safety management systems.
- Experience leading projects and partnering with stakeholders across multiple functions.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on practical solutions and measurable results.
- Experience using EHS systems, reporting tools, and emerging technologies.
NCSO, CRSP, PMP, or other relevant certifications are considered assets.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and compliance requirements.
- Project Management
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in EHS management software and reporting tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Additional Perks:
