Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. FCMS is at the forefront of designing and integrating mission systems onto new construction and post-delivery ships, playing a critical role in advancing the United States Navy's surface warfare capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to lead engineering efforts across a dynamic portfolio that spans surface ship construction, fleet introduction, sustainment, modernization, and cutting-edge unmanned systems integration.

Position Overview

The Deputy Program Manager, Engineering (DPME) serves as a key leader responsible for overseeing engineering projects from inception through delivery. In this role, you will ensure high-quality deliverables, foster cross-functional collaboration, and maintain the integrity of project schedules and budgets. You will be a critical driver of technical excellence, risk management, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct lessons learned reviews after each major project phase to drive continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive engineering plans aligned with project requirements
  • Ensure all project deliverables — including documentation — are developed with high quality and delivered on schedule
  • Ensure all engineering processes adhere to established engineering practices and standards
  • Validate that total system requirements are properly defined and verified
  • Oversee the integration, testing, and verification of total systems
  • Identify, develop, analyze, and report engineering project performance measures
  • Implement effective corrective actions to address technical and programmatic issues
  • Drive risk identification and mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead project change management efforts to maintain scope, schedule, and budget control

Technical & Analytical:

  • Highly proficient problem-solving skills in complex, multi-disciplinary environments
  • Highly proficient ability to apply or develop advanced technologies, principles, theories, and concepts
  • Expertise in project management, including various project life cycles such as Agile
  • Highly proficient understanding and application of project leadership principles, including SPI/CPI, Earned Value Management (EVM), Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls
  • Ability to anticipate technology, process, and skill needs to support program growth
