Target salary range: $175K - $195K. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Position Overview

The Senior Program Manager is responsible for leading and managing complex government programs involving technical execution, budget oversight, schedule management, and operational performance. This role provides strategic leadership across program lifecycle activities, ensuring successful delivery of program objectives while maintaining compliance with customer requirements and organizational goals. The Senior Program Manager serves as the primary interface with government stakeholders, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee technical program management activities for complex government programs and initiatives.
  • Manage program budgets, schedules, resources, and performance metrics to ensure successful execution.
  • Conduct trade-off analyses, lifecycle cost assessments, and risk management activities to support program objectives.
  • Develop and manage program plans, milestones, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
  • Support requirements development, systems integration, test and evaluation, and operational readiness activities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, finance, logistics, and subcontractors.
  • Identify program risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations, briefings, and status reports to government customers and senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, government regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to program personnel and subordinate managers.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree (MA/MS/MBA) from an accredited college or university in Business, Accounting, Program Management, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing Government programs, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Highly specialized knowledge of program management principles, government contracting environments, and program lifecycle management.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
Substitutions
  • One academic year at an accredited college or university in a related post-secondary program may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Five years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • A Program Management certification from an accredited university or a DAWIA Program Management certification may substitute for the PMP certification.
