Job Title: Youth Services Coordinator 

Reports To: Library Director 

FLSA Status: Full-Time 

Location: FOR Sto-Rox Library, McKees Rocks, PA

About Focus On Renewal: The Focus On Renewal Sto-Rox Neighborhood Corporation (FOR) was founded in 1969. FOR founders led a group of mobilized citizens and community activists to create an umbrella organization for much needed social services now ranging from food security, nutrition, early childhood education, support groups and mental health to arts programs for ages and small business incubation. FOR has now grown to house 30+ staff at four locations throughout McKees Rocks and Stowe Township. The Organization provides support to the people in our neighborhood through programs for all ages designed to develop resilient, contributing members of a thriving community. We work with a wide range of partners to ensure high quality programming is accessible to all 13,000 residents of the Sto-Rox Community.      

Position Summary:The Youth Services Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating engaging, developmentally appropriate programs and services for children and teens (ages 0-18) at the FOR Sto-Rox Library. This role supports literacy development, educational enrichment, and cultural awareness, with a strong emphasis on equity, inclusion, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Development & Facilitation

  • Design, promote, and lead creative and educational programs for youth, including story times, after-school activities, teen workshops, and summer reading initiatives.
  • Coordinate with local schools, organizations, and families to align services with community needs.
  • Integrate STEAM, cultural arts, and life skills into programming (e.g., photography, culinary arts, African drumming, etc.).

Outreach & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, especially those serving Sto-Rox youth and families.
  • Represent the library at school and community events, promoting library resources and services.
  • Collaborate with internal programs such as Families Foremost to extend youth engagement.

Library Services

  • Provide excellent customer service to children, teens, and caregivers.
  • Recommend age-appropriate books and resources.
  • Assist with collection development and maintenance of youth materials.
  • Work at the Library desk and assist with the ongoing operations of the front desk and circulation as required

Administrative Duties

  • Track attendance and participation for reporting and grant purposes.
  • Assist in preparing program reports, promotional materials, and social media content.
  • Help secure program funding and donations when possible.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned. 


Requirements

 Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Library Science, Social Work, or experience in field with ongoing CE training.
  • Experience working with youth in educational or community settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse, community-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed practices, youth development principles, and culturally responsive programming is a plus.
  • Must pass required background checks (PA Child Abuse, Criminal Record, FBI Fingerprinting).

Preferred Skills:

  • Bilingual abilities (especially Spanish) are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, and/or library software systems.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers or teen leadership initiatives.
